    Hi guys.

I just got myself a portable 3.0 Hard drive. All works well but noticed today when I try plugging it into the left hand side USB port I get a msg saying failed,, and yet the other USB Ports on the right are fine.

Strangely enough as well if I just put the device into the port (not all way in) it reads it,,,,,but as soon as I push it in all the way the computer fails to see it and the fail msg comes back.

Have I got a port issue or is it something dead simple to fix??

Just noticed now it does this with all of the laptop's ports. I have never noticed this before with any other USB devices I have used, but with this Hard Drive if I push the cable head all the way into the USB Port I get the error msg ,,, the last USB device you inserted malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it.

And yet as soon as I pull it back out a little ,, bingo works again.

Does this mean that the USB ports are loose or something? The Device is 3.0 .

does it has extra power cable or just a usb 3.0 cable doing all the works?
maybe it happened because the ports are unable to provide enough power to the portable hdd.

It just has the one cable that came with the Portable HD. I have just ordered another cable from the bay to see if that makes any difference. I ran a diagnostic on the HD and that said all works fine. I just tried pushing my headphones right in to the ports to see if anything similar would happen with another USB device and it didn't do it.

It kind of weird but it does work fine if I dont push it all the way in to the ports,, I have watched movies etc through it with it in that way and they play fine so I am assuming power to the HD is adequate ??
