This has been an ongoing issue for some time that I have just put up with but I'm looking for a solution.

At random times often once a day, I will have either my left or right USB port cut out and be unresponsive. It has not mattered what was plugged in on either side and I have had (for instance) the mouse cut out and no power being sent to the mouse, USB drives that were reading fine no longer show up as their name but as removeable drive. ( So it still notices it, but cannot access the device.) Most annoyingly, is I have a Logitech z305 USB soundbar that I use and it is literally always filled with static like pops and such. USB headphones have the same issues. I have taken each device and have moved it to a different computer and everything works perfectly. The laptop sitting right next to the M15 being in the same vicinity of any presumed static has no issues. I have taken this M15 and have experienced this at home, work, and lan parties. I was going to buy ferrite cores and add them to all my USB devices, but I can't believe that would be the issue, as they all work fine elsewhere.

I have deleted the USB root hubs from my hardware profiles and had them rediscovered, I have run Dell's USB diagnostic tool on it and it shows everything is great (As it is running the sound test through the USB soundbar, it was popping with static as it told me it was working.) I have installed any applicable driver except for the A09 bios update (as I didn't see the need because it didn't relate to this issue. Still on A08) I have run out of ideas.

Anyone have anything close to relating to this issue? Many thanks for any help.

Have you tried changing the laptop to max performance power plan? Also, does this happen on safe mode as well? If you reboot the machine, does it work?

    Thanks for the reply Luis.
The laptop was already in maximum power mode and has been for some time. Hadn't thought about safe mode because anytime I'm in safe mode I usually have other priories to attend to and had never thought about seeing if the problem persisted then. Got home from work and set it up and tested it and laughed because I forgot safe mode also disables audio mode so I wouldn't be tell from the most obvious tell tale if there was still static. Left the laptop on and went to bed with it in safe mode and nothing was not working and I still could access the thumb drive and mouse, but it wasn't being touched.

Rebooting the machine works every time by the way. I have gotten very adept at windows key and arrows to rebooting. This works every time when either port is hung.
