Hello normally to work publishing video and use an external box of 2.5 Power inches to over ESATA, being looked for one better rate of transference and a better yield buys a card express card usb 3,0 since my M15x does not have usb3.0 here them attached the comparative one that I have realised.

Here's a thread about how USB 3.0 expresscards and the M15x:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m15x/573153-m15x-usb-3-0-express-card-54-a.html

You can get a expresscard with 2 USB 3.0 ports for about $15, which is pretty cool, the transfer rates aren't full USB 3.0 speed, but definitely faster than what you get with USB 2.0.
I got up to 90 MB/s with my USB 3.0 expresscard, depends on the device which you connect.

However, the eSata port is still the best choice for transfering data from/to the M15x. eSata is faster than USB 3.0 and it works very well on the M15x, too bad there's only one port imo.

might be limited by the 5400 rpm drive too. my understanding is our computers expresscard slot is a 1x as well so I'm not sure if there's enough bandwidth from that to handle USB 3's full potential.

I've been debating what to do with this stuff as well since I've only got a 320 gig drive in my computer and the one this is replacing has 680 gigs worth of space and much of that was full. 300 gigs of that computer is media and could viably used over esata or USB 3 or maybe even USB 2.

USB is UNIVERSAL serial bus. Maybe you need more than 1 eSata while some of us don't need even 1. Good that mine my VAIO has combo eSata and USB port

Well, the eSata port of the M15x is a combo port... I dind't mention this since all M15x owners know this and it wasn't relevant to the subject...
A perfect notebook should have eSata/USB combo ports instead of USB ports. But the average user only really uses USB, that's true.

Edit: Lol, the turtle was quick... :D

I know that it is... that's an answer to both of you guys :). It proves that even 1 single eSata is more than you need, while you say need more than 1 ;)

    EDIT
    LOL too :D

well i could certainly use a 2nd esata port.
I occasionally xfer a large amount of data from external to external using 2 hdd docks (the sort that allows you to plug in an internal desktop hdd).
    they use usb2 and/or esata.
