I found the ultimate RAM upgrade for the M15x! : Kingston HyperX 16GB SODIMM DDR3 1600MHz Ram Memory Kit (8GBx2)

Kingston HyperX 16GB SODIMM DDR3 1600MHz Ram Memory Kit (8GBx2)

This memory runs at CAS: 9 (the same latency as good 1333mhz memory!) However it will naturally downclock tighening itself further!!

In the M15x I am confident it will run at a lower latency. Perhaps CAS 8 at 1333mhz. While using typoon burner it ought to stably tighten to CAS 7 :D

What do people think. With the M15x aging I am thinking for those with 8GB of ram only this could be the ultimate upgrade and really help future proof it further especially once the next gen of GPU's get released!

Discuss peeps :D I would love CAS 7 memory!!

...Man I remember back in the day when 5-5-5-15 was slow and loose... :p

I had some old G.Skill in my desktop that was DDR2-800 running at 1233 with timings bolted down, ever since then I've sworn by G.Skill for stability (lasted 4+ years until I sold the machine) and performance (was running WAY out of official spec).

Anyway, yeah, kingston makes some good stuff, if you look around (for some reason Newegg doesn't carry it) you can also find 8GB sticks (2x8 or 4x8) of G.Skill running at 1600 with a CAS of 8 or 9 stock I believe and if memory serves for about $5/GB. But cas of 7 on DDR3-1600 is nuts, but I would imagine that requires an unlocked BIOS, no? I'm not overly familiar with playing with laptop clocks so pardon my ignorance :p

Adobe After Effects probably the only situation you would notice any difference, and even then it won't be much.

If it's the same price as standard modules, go for it.

Yeah noticable difference isn't going to be much. I'm running 2x4GB(8GB) XPG series ram @ 8-8-8-21 timings. It says it's running at 1.28v in some programs while in others says 1.5v.
