I have an m15x w/Nvidia 260M and am trying to connect it to a Dell 2408WFP 24" LCD monitor via DisplayPort. If I connect to DisplayPort but leave the monitor's input setting on anything but display port, the monitor is detected properly and I can choose to extend displays, ensure correct resoultion, etc. When I change the monitor input to DisplayPort, the following sequence happens:

    1) Laptop becomes unresponsive and laptop screen goes blank and monitor enters power save after about 5 seconds.
    2) Several seconds later, both screens turn on, but monitor shows desktop with what looks like light "snow" from old days of analog TV. Laptop is minimally responsive and keystrokes, mouse movement, etc. take several seconds to register.
    3) Repeat

Second monitor works correctly with VGA, but I'd feel happier if I could make the display port to work. Has anyone seen anything like this and/or have suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

I'd say try another dpcable and make sure your not in stealth mode cuz that will down clock your processors
