    Hey guys,

I was just curious, I'm looking into buying another power brick for my M15x (specs in my sig) to keep hooked up on my desk full time and keep my original adapter portable. I searched these forums and found these two mentioned

    150W AC Adapter Dell N3834 D2746 PA-15,19.5V 7.7A | eBay

Genuine AC Power Adapter Charger Dell Alienware M15X | eBay

I guess my question is, has anyone used a non genuine powerbrick for there M15x? Any issues with using one? I'd buy the official one but being a student $120 is a pretty big pill to swallow hehe. Is 150w what I should be looking for? Anyone have a recommendation besides the 2 I listed above? Thanks.

The 150w power brick I have is not genuine, and the only problem I've had is that I get an error message on startup saying my brick isn't the real one. Just switched it off in bios. Aside from that no performance problem or anything, and I've been using it for over 7 months. The person I bought it from had it for a year. If you buy from ebay, buy one that says new and genuine. Also, a reputable seller of course.

New? Yes. Genuine? Surely the whole point of this thread is to discuss non genuine parts.

Or is the attached link for the 'genuine' charger actually a genuine Dell charger? If so, how come so cheap??

I've used a non-genuine powerbrick for my M15x for the last 6 months or so , not had any problems or error messages. Only thing I miss is that there is no led on the ac plug :(

Ah good to hear, I'll buy one pretty soon and let you all know how it works. Since it'll be in my room its good there's no LED, I find sometimes I have to cover the current one since it lights up the whole corner :D
