    Hi all,

    I want upgrade my GPU but I have doubts about wath to get:

    FIREPRO M6100 --> 150EUR

    GTX 680M --> 250EUR

    I think that the best choice is the GTX680M but the price is more expensive but I don´t know if the performance&compatibility difference between them worth it.

    ALIENWARE M15x
    PSU150W
    8GB RAM

    Thank you.

    According to this the GTX 680M is 16% faster.

    The only way to overclock the M6100 is via VBIOS modding if I remember correctly. I had one and it was definitely faster than a M6000. No issues with running either card other than making sure the heatpipe doesn't hit components on the board, causing it to not seat properly on the AMD cards. I got around it with a 1mm copper shim. Others went different routes and got the same results.

    So, it's still your call. I like the 970M but it's a LOT more money than either of those cards. What games are you playing?

    I vote firepro m6100. minimal performance difference, lower power consumption, cheaper.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Actually I have a GTX260M for that mainly I play to Indy games because the most new games don´t work. I know that either of these cards will improve a lot my actual GPU but I don´t want upgrade a new GPU to get problems of performance/drivers/compatibility and "waste my money". I know that with these cards will not play ultra details but at least to play them.

    Thank you for your comment.

    That´s what I thought but post as http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...post-1-for-links.539841/page-58#post-10367552
    make me doubt if there will be problems with drivers/performance with most recent games or even if I could play them although it was in medium/low details.

    It seems that the GTX680M is more standardized in the M15x and with less problems but as you well say the minimal difference performance and the price of M6100 is a very good choice.

    680M will always need INF mod. M6100 is really a 8950M, no driver mods needed ever. Make sure you get slimline 240W adapter, disable power adapter warning in BIOS, toggle stealth mode on/off, reboot, toggle stealth on/off again, and you will have no problem.

    If with the advices you are giving me for the M6100 I will not have performance problems with most recents games, I'll keep it in mind for my final decision.
