Ok I have read through some of the posts and I have not found a solution.. This webcam is seen in device manager and it says that the driver is installed correctly.. I cannot find a driver from the dell website so I believe it is a windows 7 driver.. when I try and start the webcam using skype the light next to the camera just pulses and the camera never turns on .. And I did press the Func +F9 keys to turn the camera on and off but no difference..
any help would be appreciated thanks

Have you checked the camera connector uner the keyboard? Another person had a similar problem, turns out the connector came loose.

You have the camera enabled (fn + F9), right? If it's showing in device manager I assume so but it never hurts to check.

I did a fresh install of Win7 Home Premium just recently... installed skype, tried a video call and everything just worked... no driver issues at all...using whatever windows picked :)

Also, what settings are you running for Alien Sense? Does the camera work correctly for that or not?

Wait, you said that there was while light rite? Does it keep lighting up or does it comes on then offs? Coz, the while light indicates that your webcam is running. If the white light does not even light up, means you webcam is not detected(not plugged in). Then this probably a loose connection.

Edit: Re-read your post. Pulses, well could just be loose connection or something wrong with camera.

No the white led next to the camera just pulses... something is wrong.. not a driver issue

If I am not mistaken, the webcam for M15x uses the default Microsoft driver, thus there should not be any Dell driver for it.

    That's correct.

Have you tried YouCam off the Resource DVD to see whether the camera is working?
