    What did I do wrong?

    Hi,

I recently purchased a 460m from ebay, and from the information that I gathered here from the forums, it should be a plug and play card.
However, upon trying to install the card, my laptop would not boot. It would show the first 2 LED lights flashing, which from the information provided on this forum, would indicate that it's the video card preventing the system from booting properly.

I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or did I get scammed and purchased a broken card.

I read that I need A09 Bios, and I believe I have it. I run msinfo32 and it would say that my Bios Version Date is Alienware A09, 1/5/2011
I'm trying to upgrade from the ATI 5730m. Would the heatsink be incompatible?

The only games I play are League of Legends and Diablo III.

Wow that sucks! There's only one heatsink for the M15x so it wouldn't be that. I would try reseating the card. Remove it, clean off the connectors and reinstall it making sure it's in all the way. Sometimes that will help. If it doesn't work, I would say you have a dead card. If worse comes to worse and you're positive the card is dead, there is always http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/385973-how-repair-your-dead-graphics-card-your-alienware.html]the oven But that is an absolute last resort!

I would agree, reseat the card. I had a similar problem when upgrading my cpu, but once it was seated correctly I had no issues at all.

I tried it several times. No Luck.
Bummer that Dell sells the card for such a steep price.
