    What is the difference between these AMD 7970M cards?

    They are the same card. The only difference is the colour of the pcb (black and blue) Also the memory modules used might be a different brand but that is it. Both card will work fine in the M15x.

    Note that the DELL 7970m provides auto fan control and HDMI out. Not sure about the black one.

    So just to be 100% clear, generally looking at "Dell" Alienware graphics card they are going to be blue in color?

    For the 7970M yes they are generally blue. For the 6990M black.
