Very nice! Your machine will be king of the hill here. That GPU might be the first 8970M among us and you have a tastier SSD than my own and ram! Very nice indeed.

This machine should last you a few years yet!

It may not work properly as it hasn't been tested by us. You can try it and let us know how it goes :)

They will downclock to whatever the memory controller on your laptop can handle.

Thanks guys for your help. I am hoping all these components work well together so I can keep the TV as a TV and not as a monitor for my desktop. The M15x will likely be my replacement! ;) I will surely test out the ram once I receive it and post the results here. The CPU + GPU should get here by tomorrow or Thursday, will post the results on that as well. The only thing that worries me is that I contacted Crucial tech support and they said I will run into issues (this is after I bought the ram and saw it was shipped already :/) with the ram downlocking by two steps. They said that 1866Mhz ram can downclock to 1600Mhz fine, but would have issues downclocking to 1333Mhz which the 920XM supports. I will OC my 920XM which I am assuming will OC the memory bus...bringing it a lil closer to 1600Mhz frequency. I just hope that the ram will support my machine! I purchase only crucial ram because of the solid Micron chips they use and found that the slower ram sticks cost more money for some stupid reason...Fingers crossed!

    M15x runs max 1333mhz.

    1866mhz should downclock though.

That is what I am hoping for King, I would hate to send back the ram and wait for another set. Sad thing is, the slower sets cost more money. :.(

Well, looks like I got the ram. Sadly I popped it in and ran a memtest. It failed ><. Looks like I have to send back the ram. At this point I am just going to spend a bit more and get the 1600Mhz version. Well this sucks...

Okay well I got the 1600Mhz version in the mail today and it seems like Memtest is stable with no errors! I have 16GB ram with 8-8-8-21 timings @ 1333Mhz ;.) They also dropped the price by $15 a day after I ordered it so I got them to honor that price and it was actually cheaper than the 1866Mhz ram! Happy news altogether. Windows experience rates the ram at 7.5 so the weakest link on my machine is the CPU @ 7.4!

Thanks! The 920XM works perfectly fine. I have to learn how to use Throttlestop more efficiently, but I will wait till I can solve the temp issues on my 8970M. :/
