    So I've finally brought everything for my beloved M15x, here is what I got and how much it cost me:

    GPU = Nvidia GeForce Dell 2GB GTX 680m + X-Bracket = £193
    CPU = Intel Core i7 920XM OEM = £180
    RAM = Corsair 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz (2X4) = £50
    HDD = Seagate Momentus XT 750GB (Gen 2) = £70
    WIFI = Bigfoot 1103 = £55

    I'm very happy about the deal I paid for all of these as it is basically a steal! But I have a question about the GTX 680m inf file modding. How do I upgrade the driver? I can't find anything on google about modifying the GTX 680m on a m15x. Could someone explain a step-by-step instructional guide on how to do this? I don't want to destroy my graphics card before I can even test it :( Thanks!

    He says 780m initially but then 680m. Still a 680m at that price is a bargain. I just hope it hasn't been heavily overclocked.

    All info on modded drivers etc can we found on tech inferno forum. You can also flash to svl7's modded vBIOS there. Need to become a member though.

    Oops typo haha, it's a 680m and it was on eBay through bidding. Someone won it for £240 but never paid it and the seller contacted me cause I was the next person down from the winning bidder as I bidded £180 haha! And it's a pulled part from m18x and he said it hasn't been overclocked as he pulled out parts from m18x.

    That is a sick spec! At 900p you won't need to upgrade for half a decade!!

    We're probably all going to have to upgrade in about 6 months.

    920xm doesn't bottleneck the 7970M at 950/1450mhz when properly OCed. I can't see what won't be playable at high settings 6 months from now at these settings :D

    If not the next gen beckons but I doubt it will be absolutely necessary. Probably will for ego though :)

    Does the i7 740QM bottleneck the 7970M or the 680m?

    It definitely will seeing as how the 920/940xm bottlenecks the 7970m without overclocking to 3ghz +. 740qm is only at 1.7ghz and gtx 680m is faster than 7970m (if overclocked). This may only be noticeable in CPU-intensive games though such as far cry 3 or crysis 3.

    For the most part it will bottleneck in some way. Those old i7 nehalem QM:s are clocked way too low. You could always turn on AAA to bring the bottleneck back to GPU but the overall gaming experience would lower for sure.

    Antialiasing and anistropic filtering. Basically set all game settings to max or to the point where the cpu doesn:t bottleneck any more. However this might make a game equally unplayable or unenjoyable. Your best bet is to upgrade to 920xm. Really worth the money. Your QM can manage 1.8ghz across 4 cores under heavy load. The 920xm can manage 3.2ghz+ across 4 cores. 1.4ghz difference! HUGE difference.
