I have T.S. set at 26x4 93/80 and when it gets to the cpu intensive tests,my pc shuts off. I tried putting ice in a big plastic bag under where the cpu is but it still shuts off. You know in 3DMark Vantage the test that shows the little planes flying around, well I finished that one with 80,000 then the next test came up where it says "warming up" then it shut off. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like a power draw issue. the components you have will be pressing the limits of what your PSU can handle as far as output. your basically using up all of the power available and when you stress the CPU & GPU and other components, they need more juice. there might be some other issue, but if your not having other issues except when your using synthetic benchmarks then im confident saying that's whats going on considering your specs. try running the bench at stock specs and see what happens...

The CPU really heats up during these tests...could be that your CPU simply gets too hot.
Take off the back cover from your system and lift it a bit, so that there's enough room for colder air to get in.
You could also try to put it next to an air conditioning which blows cold air to your system or near an open window in case it's a bit colder, maybe at nighttime (I don't know your ambient temperatures)

Nope, power won't be an issue, this works fine. I run several benchmarks with similar settings, CPU and GPU pushed to the max, and the PSU delivers enough power.

yup what svl said, its a temp issue. anything above 24x i run with additional cooling.

Ditto, temps I'm thinking. I've done lots of benching ;)

I've been using ThrottleStop for a couple of months now and always wondered why my scores weren't as good as other guys with XM cpus. Well you should get a chuckle out of this;I've been putting in my settings on T.S. and then closing it out, then running my benchmarks. Then the other day I thought, leave the T.S. window open and then benchmark. My scores improved dramatically. DUH!! :D I have to find a cooling solution though as my pc shuts off when running 26 or over.

ThrottleStop should be most efficient when it is minimized to your system tray.

usmc362: You sound like the type of guy that might be interested in this new TS feature.

It will let you switch Profiles with a user configurable keyboard shortcut. You should be able to adjust CPU performance on the fly while running a benchmark. If you have one test that is causing problems, maybe you can use this new feature to slow down a little and then get back up to full speed for the next test.

When the link in my sig changes to TS 3.10, it will be ready for testing. :)
