my optical hdd caddy finally arrived, the choices I have is: do I run 2x 240GB ssd drives or 2x 1TB momentus xt hybrid ssd drives or is it best to mix them up 1x 240GB ssd primary and 1TB hybrid ssd secondary.
the reason why I ask is im thinking of selling my Alienware m15x and buying a Alienware m18x as I have the money ready and its something I've been thinking about for awhile now.
the drives mean nothing to me so I don't mind which I put in to sell tbh.

    advice most welcome.

From what I remember the SATA connection from the optical bay is only SATA-I. I could be wrong though.
If it is then that interface would severely limit an SSD. Stick a 1TB HDD in the optical bay and an SSD in the main drive bay which is SATA-II :)

Also don't buy an M18x now! I know they are reduced with adding various deals and coupons together but if you can wait for the (inevitable) gtx 780m SLI refresh I think you'll thank yourself later!

the connection/port itself is sata 2, the optical device attached was sata 1
im not to fussed when it comes to the graphics I just need something bigger, more options. I know intels new cpu's are on the way but I don't know when dell/alienware will start to use them/if they will start to use them anytime soon

I would mix them and use the SSD for the OS and HDD for storage on the ODD slot.

I mixed mine up for a good mix of speed on key programs/games and overall storage/media.
