Hey guys quick question. Ive seen stuff about cleaning the vents but the thing is that I see that you blow the compressed air into the vents (which would cause the dust to go further in right?) Instead of blowing the dust out. Can someone explain this to me?

Check the M15x service manual for instructions on how to open your casing and remove the vents and fans. Then use the compressed air to blow the dust out in the appropriate direction (or in all directions and get it totally dust free!) =D

nope. the air normally get sucked in through the bottom into tha wind tunnel and through the fins/exhaust out the back. by blowing into the back of the case the dust comes out where the fans are. holding the fans in place so they don't spin this is a quick effective way to remove the dust. The air never goes into the laptop since the heat is transfered very nicely by the heatpipes. its only the heatpipes themeselves which need to be cooled.

if the dust has built up over time, it will create a wall where the heatsink fins are.

if done every 2 weeks or so, you can clean the m15x with only removing the back panel just to hold the fans from spinning (holding them lightly with the thumb stops them from becoming a dynamo - i don't think it would be good for the motherboard and can wear out your fans). if you let the dust get thick, you may want to remove the fans. you'll be surprised at how quickly things get dusty.
