    DELL Alienware M15x(m15x-472CSB) NoteBook Intel Core i7 740QM(1.73GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD±R/RW ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850
Hello, I'm new here. I was thinking about buying this machine. It's on Newegg site. Does this sound like a good price? I'm going to install a Crucial 256 GB SSD if I go ahead with purchase. Only problem is they charge sales tax(7%) in N.J. I had an MSI GX660R that I returned because I hated the stiffness of the right and left click;if you hit it right on the end it was ok.Does the Alienware have a stiff r&l click? Also is the lid a dull or glossy black? Thanks

If you want an opinion on prices, please actually post the offered price.
The lid is shinny but not uber glossy. The buttons are reasonably but not overly stiff. You'll be fine.

    Lid is not super glossy.

Left and right click are fine. Trackpad isnt the best though.

    Overall a very nice system.

Dreaded Weight and Horrible battery life are the only cons to this beast.
Trackpad is not horribly bad, as long as you uninstall the syn---something driver (forgot the name)
Again, your major concerns are the 10 pounds and the 2 hour battery life. I guess if you don't travel a lot and if your not a student than it won't matter.

I have pretty much the exact same system aside from only 4gb of RAM. I don't have trouble with the weight but then again this is my first laptop so I don't have much to compare it to, it's heavier than my girlfriend's XPS 15 which I didn't think was too bad but apparently people think that's a heavy laptop too. I've travelled with my M15x too... watching movies on the train and browsing the internet while running off of battery on a plane. Granted the battery life is weak but being on a plane is the only time I've needed to use it as I can always find a socket so the whole weak battery never affected my choice to buy.

i have this exact configuration didn't get it from new egg though.

runs great havent had a game it cant handle at pretty much the highest settings.

its a glossy black but not very shiny feels great though!

the left and right click are good not the best trackpad click combo but it works since most of the time you rpobably going to be using a mouse anyways. they are not stiff, i would say the worst left/right click is on a g73jh by asus.

i just hope by this time you realized you never listed the price so its rather funny you got annoyed when you messed up.

The price seems right, without the 1080 screen, but ive heard of people having problems with dell support when purchasing thru newegg. U might want to research about that next.....

Well I went to Neweggs website to buy the laptop for 1399.99 and to my dismay the price was now 1699.99. So I went to Ebay and found one with a little better specs for 2050.00 M15x i7 740QM GTX 460M 1080p 6GB 1333 plus I bought a Crucial 256 SSD. I have a 4 GB stick of RAM I' ll replace the 2 GB stick with. I can't wait till next week when I get it!!
