I recently got a 250gb SSD and instead of taking out my Blueray, thought I'd keep it. Is it possible to just purchase an eSATA shell for like 30-40$ and put the old 500gb hd in it or would it be better performance to purchase a different eSATA hd? Also does our eSATA power the drive or would I need to get one with an external power adaptor?

Second part: is it a better recommendation to get a usb 3.0 express card and a usb3.0 hd and forget the whole esata idea? If so any recommendations for either of these?
