Wondering there's so few of people complaining about their cpu...
am i the only one hving low fps because of the cpu?(coz i tested the same card on my desktop(i5 2500K @ 4.5ghz),so i know its about the cpu)
but i didn't see anyone complaning about it  weird...
im playing vindictus but only hv avg:30fps
some scene that with complicated objects goes even 10...
it is almost as worst as my old desktop's cpu C2D E4300
    or even worst...wondering why
though the old cpu only have about 50fps on street fighter while the laptop is fine can go over 100...but why vindictus is going that bad

    specs:
    740qM
    5850M oc @ 800/1100
    6gb ram
    crucial C300 64gb

temps on cpu when running the game is under 60c
tried to disable sum cores to make it boost higher, but still doesn't work

Well, it probably shouldn't surprise you that a 5850M combined with a desktop Sandy Bridge CPU operating at 4.5Ghz will provide faster game performance than the same GPU combined with a Core i7 mobile CPU operating at ~1.86Ghz. Given the reported performance in Street Fighter, this sounds like a Vindictus specific issue, not a 740QM issue per se.

based on the original question will a 840xm or 940xm help out using OPENGL driven 3d applications for basic frame rate, assuming all else is same?

I know it wont help with shadows and illumination settings.

To the OP, how did you manage to test a desktop CPU with your laptop card? Are you likening the 5850 in your desktop to the 5850 in your laptop?! The desktop 5850 is very different to the mobility 5850 with over twice the performance. The mobility 5850 is similar to a heavily downclocked 5770.

    i know its like a downclocked 5770
    though i don't have a 5770 on desktop
but i run 3dmark vantage on my laptop
just do only the first 2 gpu test so make sure it will not cpu related
so i get like 24fps with the test
    i have a gtx460 768mb on desktop
then i downclock it to like 400 on core to get the same 3dmark score of my laptop, 24fps
so a downclokcked 460 should be similar to my laptop's 5850m
    that's how i test
the reason of asking these questions is some one tell me he can run stable 60fps in all scene with a 720qm
    that makes me extremely confused....

    @incy
well yes....cause when i lower the graphic settings in game...i still get the same fps
frankly it sux when u get 20on lowest settings and same on highest settings....u're pissed
