I just can't find and comparisons online anywhere to tell me if its worth upgrading the my m15x cpu. The main test for the 620m will be when BF3 beta releases in september, but for the time being i was hoping to find at least one benchmark that highlights that the 920xm will improve frame rates but also help smooth out gameplay in bc2.

Has anyone upgraded from duel to quad and noticed a difference??

As far as I know, Bad Company 2 utilizes hyper-threading and multi-core very well as it runs on the the Frostbite engine. I have seen tests which have task manager up at the same time and it is using more than 2 cores so you may see a bit of an increase.

    i believe you'll have to worry about throttling with the 920xm & 460m :(

For the 900p screen ress, I doubt that the 620M will bottleneck the 460m.

If you want to overclock the 920xm, the 240w M17x PSU can be used to prevent throttling due to lack of power.

I was under the impression that power was limited by the mobo, and therefore the 240w psu wouldnt make any difference other than the fact that it doesnt get as hot as the 150w.
Please correct me if im wrong

^^That is correct, the M15x draw maximum of about 180w regardless what PSU you use :(

well my 150w psu craps out at max load (around 160w peak according to watt meter), the ring light goes out on the plug and all.
still waiting for my 240w to come in the mail (should be today by dell's estimates).

hopefully then i can restore my cpu back to 24/24/24/24 with appropriate tdp/tdc as per usual.

oh and spoon, if BF3 takes advantage of multiple cores the 620m will be outperformed by a large margin. the real power of the extreme series is being able to run above thermal design power, allowing max clocks at full load on all cores.

it makes the laptop feel like a desktop pc.
