im trying to fix the wireless card (intel 5300 half card) in my m15x. i just figured out the other day that my wireless does not work at all on my computer. the first thing i tried was updating the driver, windows found one and updated it. still did not work. next i uninstalled the new driver and wireless card to reinstall it with the driver from dell and now my computer does not see the wireless card in the device manager. any ideas on how i can get this fixed?

i also tried the touch buttons and they did nothing to help.

im trying to fix this without calling alienware because im deployed right now and i could not send it to them or have them look at it if i wanted to.

    thanks.

I'd suggest reboot - check the bios to see if the bios sees it. Then, try the touch panel again. It is not so easy to see if switch is off or on. If you've ever had the touch panel off, it could be a bad connection. Very unusual for a card to disappear without being turned off. You might also check control panel - though seems less likely.

Are you sure the "WiFi touch button" is ON?

Thanks for the help, my girlfriend called dell and had a guy from alienware tech service email me. What he had me do to fix it was a power drain, then I pulled the laptop apart and reseated the wireless card. When I powered it back up windows saw the card as new hardware and auto installed the drivers and its working great now.
