I bought my m15x in Jan 2011. Just had GPU replaced under it after 8-9 months of embarrassingly light use.

what kind of costs can I expect in extending it another year or two, or is it worth just risking out of pocket expenses after this one compared to warranty extension costs?

    Hello positivity!

I would do it as long as it costs less than $400. Any more than that, just put the money away for the day you need to buy a new one.

I did and consider it well worth it. Especially since they are not making new M15x machines.

** I added two years to my warranty for a grand total (including vat etc) for £139.99.

You're in the minority with your heat issues. Something is seriously wrong with your machine but that should be in a different thread. :p

If it's Dell, extend warranty while it's cheap.
Had to learn that the hard way with my M17X-R2
