Hey everyone, I have had the computer for three days and the second day I woke up i found a scratch on the screen, today i have found another scratch on the screen. Is it easy to scrach the screen? if it is, this isnt good lol, im leaving for a ten month trip in three days and i cant have a three day old alienware(out of all things) have a screen scratch so easily. My three year old Hp has no scratches and it was used everyday of those two years.
First scratch called dell, they told me that its hard glass(???) and it couldnt scratch he said it was user error and told me three options which i cannot do as im leaving in 3 days.

any help would be greatly appricated.

I have had a M15x in the past (it broke after the warranty expired -.- ), and a M17x now. None of the screens were easily scratched. You should give dell a call, because a coating must be missing

Edit: I see you have already given dell a call. Since it is only 3 days old, I would return it if I were you.

I wish you the best of luck!

so what am i supposed to do? i waited a week or something for this thing to come, i love it to death, and the screen scratches like nothing. i can even see were the keyboard has scratched it and the keys are smooth to the touch. its almost like the whole screen/lid area is not being supported by the two rubber feet. >.>
EDIT: on a second look on the screen there are multiple small scratches on the screen....

I haven't gotten any scratches and I've had mine almost a year. As for what are you supposed to do, well you said you were leaving for a ten month trip in a couple days, theres not much you can do other than deal with it, they won't be able to fix it in a couple days.

Yeah it's stinks to have scratches on the screen cover. Plus that thing is hard to replace because I think the LCD panel is glued or taped to it along its edges. Perhaps one of those plastic polishers may help, like the ones they use for restoring headlight lenses. They are supposed to get rid of small scratches and swirl marks, especially on clear plastic. It may be worth a try.

The other thing I would suggest is getting one of those really thin mousepads that double as screen protectors when the lid is closed. I have one from Ohmetric that I picked up from Microcenter, and while it doesn't protect the entire screen, it still provides cushioning between the screen and keyboard, which is probably where most of the scratches are coming from.
