I'm not sure I should call support on this... but my X key falls off sometimes, once every two weeks, approx.

I snap it back in, and its all good, but eventually it goes off again...

My warranty expires in August, I don't know if a keyboard replacement is worth it, I wouldn't like to fall for a "support horror story" and end up with a messy keyboard...

I would ask if you are mad, Of course you should get it replaced.

A keyboard is a really simple fix, heck they asked me to install the replacement myself :p

well yes, I guess I could ask to do it myself, and just have them send me a new keyboard...

they will ask for the old one in return, right?

your laptop is alot of money, so it could be worth it to extend the warranty. warranty can be discounted too, so it doesn't hurt to ask about pricing.

man, listen to the voices of experience... if you intend to keep your m15x for a while longer then extending your warranty is a must, if not you will end with a 2k paperweight =/ that almost happened to me. Don't forget that is very likely that the m15x will get discontinued so, if nowadays it's hard to fix your m15x without warranty (almost impossible to find a MOBO by yourself) then imagine trying to fix it without the warranty and being a discontinued model... ouch.

well, you are all slowly convincing me...

I will give it a couple of months, to see if any news on 18'' Alienware models come out... in that case I might considering selling this one and replacing it for one of those massive beasts...

Don't be afraid to call them. I called alienware, cus within a week of getting my laptop, the spacebar started squeaking on every push. I asked them if they could just send the keyboard and I'd swap it myself but the customer support guy said no in case I mess something up. The part was sent to the tech and I called him and asked the same question. He said sure and gave me the part. I'm installing it tomorrow. He said I have 10 days to return the defective one. All I have to do is put it in the same box the new one came and drop it off at fedex (it's prelabeled).

So basically, get a new one.
