low 3dmark scores?

pretty much new install on windows, and ive disabled all my startup programs and i get the same thing.

8gb ram, core i7 740qm, nvidia gtx 460m

running 3dmark 06 I get at low as 7200, I tried with something and i got it up to 1100 once and now its running at around the 9000 range mostly. I've tried changing stuff with nvidia settings and new drivers etc. my one 3dmark 03 run i got under 15000, and i forget my 3dmark vantage but it was significantly lower. anyone have any ideas why this would be? ive got everything in the nvidia control panel set to performance, latest driver, latest bios, nothing running in the background to interfere that I can tell.

can anyone give me an idea of what to check to see if my hardware is bad or anything. when i first got the computer i think i ran it and got around 13-14k on 3dmark 06

when i'm checking cpu-z and speedfan, it appears that when my temp gets around the 80's my core speed caps at like 931mhz and goes even lower. i watched them in a second monitor while doing a 3d mark test and when it got around half way through and the temps were higher my processor slowed down. any idea why its doing this? i wouldn't think it would slow down there.

 

I posted in the other thread you originally started about why your CPU is throttling and how to fix it. This was a very common problem when these laptops first came out.
