    m15x 2008 HDD upgrade

    dear expert,

    I need to upgrade HDD to SDD in my old Alienware m15x (first gen) from 2008. in this laptop there is HDD with 9.5 cm high. Can I install SDD eith 7cm high?
    please help

    Yes you can. Also I really hope you mean mm not cm, otherwise you have the worlds biggest storage drives on this planet.

    I would recommend to install at 500GB -1TB SSD drive in the machine. Note that the M15x uses SATA II (max 3GB/sec) not SATA III which is twice as fast therefore go for reliability first not speed. Secondly I would then get a ODD to HDD conversion caddy. This way you can remove the ODD and replace it with another HDD. In my case I installed a 2TB HDD for back up purposes. Very handy and more useful than the ODD which I simply put into a external caddy for use via usb when needed (very rarely these days)

    Thanks for advice, so sad m15x support only SATA II. However my parents use this laptop now and 120GB is enough for them. I install SSD 120GB and laptop hot second life. System strats in 27 second and everything works rapido. Difference wirh performance in incredible
