I recently bought an Astro A30 audio system with the Mixamp and i was wondering what would be the best way to wire it to the m15x (mostly because there is not a lot of options on the notebook...).

Can I even get 5.1 on it? And, if not, what is the best I can get out of it.

I tried USB and it sounded alright, but I'm not entirely sure if that is the best possible setup.

If you got the new mixamp, just connect it via USB. Since we can't get optical out, USB is gonna be probably the best you'll be able to get.
For 5.1 just press the dolby button on the mixamp.

Thanks for responding! I also tried doing 3.5mm to dual-RCA but I'm pretty sure the USB might be better since I'm only getting stereo with the 3.5mm.

If you really want to use the 5.1 via the 3.5mm jacks, you can use 3 all 3.5mm jacks by using the "Configure your Speakers" option in the Sound panel

What kind of inputs does the astro mixamp use?

Hmm...have you considered using an RCA to 3.5mm adapter? I've got a couple from Skullcandy gaming headsets I've bought over the last couple of years and I don't notice any loss in quality.
You could combine those two with the PC Mic or MP3 and have all 3 working, in theory.
