Hi, all. I installed windows 10 on my M15X and it's been a pretty smooth transition up until this point. That said, there is one significant driver problem: the touchpad. The new Synaptics drivers seem to handle the older touchpad terribly - preventing the use of the single-finger scroll and also causing some weird hangs on startup when it tries to initialize the touchpad. That said, I was able to remove the windows 10 driver and install the windows 7 driver. This solves the problem, but only for a few days (after which, windows 10 invariably installs the new driver again).
Now, to prevent this, I've tried disabling the automatic installation of drivers and hiding the Synaptics updates using the hide/show updates tool. That works until Synaptics releases another version of the driver, which bypasses the hide.
Is there any way to prevent this? Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I've also run into this issue and I've also disabled automatic installation. I'm running the latest version of synaptics driver but nothing I do makes scrolling work. I always use an external mouse so it doesn't bother me too much but if there is a solution out there I'd be interested to hear it!

Is finger scrolling that important? Just use an external mouse with a wheel for even easier use ;)

I have also ran into this issue, among many other driver issues in Win10. In the end, I got so frustrated that it was just easier for me to switch back to 8.1. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has a fix for this though.

I also remember having an issue with the touchpad drivers. If I remember correctly I ended up using windows 8 drivers for Synaptics touchpads from Dell's site for another model. I just don't remember which drivers these were. Perhaps you could just try any Synaptics drivers and see if they work. You may have to install them in Win8 compatibility mode.

I also had an issue with the BT adapter for which I also used another Dell Win 8 driver in compatibility mode. I'm back on 7 now.

Windows 10 is not rubbish, it runs very quietly and without fuss once you get over the fact we're running a 6 year old laptop that might not have the best driver support.

    That is good news.

It would be lovely if you could make a win 10 m15x installation guide. From os setup tips to drivers and settings.

I wouldnt know where yo start!

I can imagine alot of people would use it as a reference and perhaps as new drivers get tried and better support occurs the thread can be updated lovingly ;)

You seem to forget that the witcher 3 is currently taking over my life! I don't have time to lovingly create or update such a guide.
Also the memory isn't that fresh anymore and I've got everything working but that doesn't mean I remember how I did it. I'll put some thought to it.

Yeah please do! I think it would make a good sticky.

Perhaps before summer then we can upgrade free :)

Annoyingly looks like I will have to do a complete clean install to get windows 10 working as the installer refuses to accept my 980M.
