I've had my trusty m15x for almost 5 years. I tried the graphics card upgrade but being a Q model it just never throttled right. So I stayed with the issued card. I did put in a SSD drive in which added to the speed. But I feel my baby is getting old and I'm looking to upgrade.

-I don't play too graphically intense games (Call of Duty, Battlefield, Civilization mostly) but I like getting a good card to keep the laptop around for awhile.
-I hated the stealth mode on this one so I hope nothing in the future has that thing.
-I prefer a laptop because I travel for work a lot and that's when I game the most.
-I'm not a fan on Win8 but I heard thats the only way to get the most of the latest graphics card.

So what are you thoughts on new laptops? stick with alienware? What are these new gaming laptops coming on the market? Are they worth it?

    Thank you for your replies!

If you want to stick to Alienware and kinda keep the size you have now, you should consider the Alienware 17 with either 770m or 870m depending on your budget you can maybe even get a better video card. i'd stick to Nvidia because i personally think amd is behind on technology lol there's also a whole lot of configurations out there! ahhhhhh the possibilities!

BUT if you wanna really get in the loop of today's technology, go with MSI! they have the new Nvidia GTX 980M systems! and they are rock solid!

Windows 7 works perfectly fine with the latest graphics cards. I am not sure what problems you are having but the M15x works well with all modern high end cards.

When I shopped on ALienware's website and picked the best card (may be it was the processor/motherboard) it said you have to get win8 to use it.

Perhaps its just a ploy to make you spend more of your money? ;)

Like King of Interns said, any modern graphics card should work with Windows 7. That being said, if you are looking to buy a new laptop as you suggested instead of upgrading your M15x then you will most likely end up with a laptop that has Windows 8 already on it.

    always alienware in my case.
extra warranty, accident protection. costs a bomb but worth it when you have a autistic child that has a nasty habit that involves cans of coke !

Your current config is not bad, but if you want to squeeze some more performance out of it I've seen many Alienware m15x's running 7970's and 770m.
