    Actually this post is for inap but I can't PM this attachment. Any comment would be appreciated. I'm just trying to figure out how the retention bracket for the 5850 is gonna work on the 6970

    what svl meant by that is the x-plate make contact with some of the resistors, but the actually plate does fit. so far making contact with the resistor hasn't harm anyone yet.

    Yeah basically the middle square of the x-plate is not as large as the 6970m needs. Thus it does not sit completely flush on the back of the GPU but the holes still line up and those screw in nicely.
