I posted some time back regarding a laptop that had coffee spilled on it(was a relatives/fortunately insured)... after a complete cleaning it works fine, but only with an external monitor(LCD is black). I've decided to try and replace the motherboard but the only ones I see available(Ebay)are listed as 40GAB3900-A 400, while this M15x is 40GAB3900-A 300.

Does anyone know the difference between the 2?

    Thanks

Look and see what the dell part number is for the motherboard...it will be something like 0G5VT. Search for that part number first. The difference could be the A300 was the initial version of the motherboard and A400 is the first revision that took care of some major flaws & failures present in the A300, hence that's why the A300 is not available. But that's just speculation. Just look up the the Dell part number.

I was wondering if you ever found an answer to this problem, as this has happened to me as well.

I've looked at the motherboard you proposed (40GAB3900-A400) and according to the specs it should work, we haven't tested that model yet so I can't tell you I'm 100% sure though.
