I'm about to run out of space so I'm looking for a bigger HD. How big of an impact is 7200rpm over 5400? Also, I remember this from when I got my laptop in so I don't know if it still happens or not.. but when re installing the os and alienware fx cd some people got their laptop bricked from it for some reason. Is that something to worry about or should I not reinstall from that alienware cd it came with and get it somewhere else?(where?) I think its the command center cd or something .

Download the CC from dell's website and you're good.

No you really wont notice much of a difference unless you use a hybrid drive or an ssd, but since your major issue is space than you could probably get a 750 momentus. As for the reinstall you can use your alienware windows 7 disc and as for the drivers you can get them online thru support.dell.com

I was looking this up recently too, it's a pain in the to explain but a smaller 7200 drive will perform better than a 5400 small drive. However once you up the size a bit they'll perform the same or close enough that it doesn't matter.

I noticed a difference going from 7200 to 10,000 in an older machine but current stuff is so fast it pretty much doesn't matter.
