So i'm looking to reduce my temps further on my 5850m considering the thermal pads i have on now are full of dust/filth, and was lookin into possibly adding a copper shim. Don't know if it's worth getting the copper shim. Also, do i get a shim the same thickness as the thermal pads? Anyone know wat size I would need for the copper shim (1.5cm x 1.5cm) right?

here are the ultra extreme thermal pads (17w/mk) i found on frozencpu that i ordered. higher w/mk than the extreme builder (11w/mk):
    Fujipoly Ultra Extreme System Builder Thermal Pad - 60 x 50 x 0.5 - Thermal Conductivity 17.0 W/mK - FrozenCPU.com

and these are the copper shims on ebay:
    6pcs Copper CPU GPU Thermal Pad Shim 1 5cm x 1 5cm x 0 5mm | eBay

I cannot say on the size thickness of the pads but if I were to add the copper shim to the dye say 0.5mm and my pads were 0.5mm I would change the pads to be 1.0mm to reflex the change of adding the thickness of the copper shim.

I've used copper shims before to help lower and control the temps on many laptops from inspiron 1520/1720 to HP models DV6/510/530 and they work and work well.
