Can anyone help me out with overclocking my 940XM? Do I need any software as I see you can't do it from the BIOS.Thanks

Yep easy way, get the latest version of throttle stop, v3.00 I think. Then run it. Click on TRL and adjust the multipliers, it ok, and hit TPL and adjust those. Rule of thumb is TDP should be a bit higher than TCP always. I usually have mine at 15 apart. As for values, so a search there is alot on this but also experiment yourself. Get wPrime and run the 1024 test on 8 threads to see what TDP values keep your multiplier readings from lowering. Some useful values:
To run 24x across all 4 cores/8 threads you need somewhere around TDP 90. I have TDP 68 when using 20x (thats all I need). When you've settled good values, do a wPrime 32 run and if your results are between 6 and 10 seconds you're good to go. Hope this helps.

Hey Widezu69 how bout coming over my house and doing that for me? I live in N.J. right next door to Tony Soprano. :D I don't have a clue to most of what you said. I'm not as computer savvy as you,but thanks for responding.

Right ok I'm sorry. To put it as simply as I can:
    Get throttlestop: Downloads | Tech|Inferno
Unpack somewhere and run it. Check all both Clock Mods and check Multi and raise it up to turbo, also check Power Saver, it's a good feature. Click on TRL and set all to 24x. Click TPL and set TDP to 90 and TDC to 80. Click ok and you are good to go. Oh and don't forget to click 'Turn On' in on the bottom right. For extras, go into options and check Minimize on close this ensures that it keeps running until you next restart. I'd love to come around to yours but I live in London so it may take a while :D

Hi Widezu,it's much faster now; I set every thing like you said. When I reboot does it go back to default? Also do you put it back to default settings when you're just surfing and only crank it up when you're gaming. Thanks again I forgot to ask you,am I supposed to put a check where it says"chipset clock mod"

Yeah check all three boxes. If you want to have to start when boot, just create a shortcut by right clicking the exe and send to desktop, then drag the shortcut into the start menu startup folder.
I actually do the opposite to what you suggest: for gaming I actually use the defaults because it sucks power from my GPU and games aren't really affected by CPU. I use the faster settings for encoding and browsing etc. However you have an ATi card which is more efficient so if I were you, I'd just keep it at OC'd all the time :)
