First, unplug your power supply from the laptop. Then remove the battery. After the battery is out, hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Then put the battery back in and plug in your power adapter and try again.

If the unit shut down while gaming, it may have been because the graphics card was getting too hot.

When you press the power button, do any lights come on? Do you get any flashing lights on the power board (Caps, Scroll, Numb lock)?

It is a long shot but you could do the power drain again AND carefully remove the bios battery and drain again. Bios battery looks like a watch battery (very small).

    Your PSU is still working?

Psu is the power supply. The black box that feeds your m15x power.

The psu can sometimes also fail.

Had this happen to me earlier in the year... Upon pressing the power button, nothing happens. Only the Alienware head will light up, cut out, then fade-in and out a few times.

I swapped the motherboard and had the same issue. I put my old motherboard back in to return the new one and for giggles, tried to fire it up again. It worked. Never could explain it and I hope I never encounter it again.

That is a good idea UPGI2AYDD. You are bringing back memories!

Pop off the instrument panel carefully and re.seat the ribbon cable to the power button.

I actually had this cable break on me about a year ago! The power button although it lit up would NOT turn on the computer.

The mouse trackpad uses the same cable. Please try swapping the cables and see if the on button works again. Then buy a new ribbon cable online.

I just bought a new one to replace the one on my trackpad (I put the broken one there) and it cost 6 dollars.

    This one would work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Alienwa...383786?hash=item3a8ff641ea:g:NvcAAOxy0x1TQP4x

Ironically, I gave that a shot when I suffered my problems, but it didn't resolve them. It just magically started working?!

I'd definitely try this though for the OP. You never know. Seen this come up once or twice with these systems.

If they replaced the motherboard, then they should have tested it. Anyway, King of Interns gave a good suggestion about the ribbon cable and already gave you a solution to try by swapping the touchpad cable for the power cable and seeing if it works. The ribbon cable is the white cable that goes from the motherboard to the power button panel. The touchpad cable is the same type, just a bit longer in length. Again, try removing the cable from the touchpad and using it for your powerboard and see if that works. Here's a video on taking the laptop apart.

Repair guys? Never. Do it yourself.

M15x is simple. Watch the videos and then slowly take the machine apart and be gentle with those ribbon cables.

The video I linked already shows how to remove the power panel and touchpad panel. It's all you should need to try what was suggested.
