Ok, allow me to explain from the beginning.

Firstly my power jack was broken so I replaced it and all seemed fine or so I thought.

My 9 cell battery went from 10% usage to 25% usage overnight... so I decided to buy another new. (never noticed or checked to see if it was charging the battery) at this point.
but once the laptop was switched off the AlienFX lights for the Alien Head would remain lite and slowly flash (as if it was charging) but it wasn't and would always do it !!!

Any ways after trying to buy a new 9 cell battery 4 times and being told sorry they are sold out, I decided to simply buy a new 6 cell battery.
    it arrived and worked fine.
but once again when the laptop was switched off the AlienFX lights for the Alien Head would remain lite and slowly flash (as if it was charging) but it issn't and would always slowly flash !!!
I put my 9 cell battery back in and same thing with the AlienFX lights still happened and it also shows plugged in not charging.

Switched back to the new 6 cell battery and I noticed it was also still saying plugged in not charging :(
brings me to believe the power jack I bought even though it says compatible with the alienware m15x wasn't the correct one. it did look slightly different to the jack i removed but all the pins were correct for soldering to the board...
I have had to disable within the bios that silly adapter warning as that would trigger everytime I switched the laptop on.
I have checked my adapter itself and that's fine.

My question, questions are this, has anyone come across this before and resolved it ?
Does anyone believe theses L shaped adapter addons will allow the battery to charge if I remove the center pin ? (if so does anyone have a ebay link)?
Or is it a matter of another complete teardown and resolder of another power jack ?

    Thankyou in advance.

Have you updated the BIOS to A09?

I haven't had this happen to my m15x atm and I hope it never gets this problem. The battery is already dead, but it charges still.

Also, I heard people with m17x's have been having the same problem. I think it's a BIOS issue. Try visiting the m17x forum and search for the battery not charging problem.

Right I have now tested the M15X with my 2x 240w Psu from my Alienware 17, and the 150w Psu from my Alienware 14, with same effects.
which to be perfectly honest I already knew it was going to be the case, but one can hope !
