    Redundant topic.

There is an abundant number of threads that have already discussed this product's release.

Razer laptops are really like the cheapest ones. I mean i would prefer Sager over them. Even their Website is so boring and non responsive, it just states generic things like Core i7 Performance, Great Video Performance.. Man WTH.. They really need to chnage their style and reduce the prices to almost 55%. Otherwise I would repeat the words of a fellow member.. Its a Crap..

it does have its pro's and cons but i just dont see why i would pay for

    The Blade's specifications include the latest Intel Core i7 processor (dual-core i7-2640M 2.8GHz), 8GB of RAM, a 17.3-inch 1080p display, an Nvidia GeForce GT 555M graphics card w/ 2GB GDDR5 video memory, a 320GB 7200RPM drive, and an HD webcam. With its integrated 60Wh battery, it weighs 6.97 lbs and measures 16.81 x 10.9 x 0.88 inches.

First off, its a dual core?
second bold gt555m epic fail if its soldered onto the motherboard..

but to my question, why a 555m and a DUAL CORE i7?

doesn't make sense to me, its like downgrading from today's tech, kinda lol

Is the 555 any good then? My friend sent me link with a little message saying
"it's better than yours!", which I wasn't very happy about. I'd still rather have
my AW hands down. That thing is going into the "Apple" category as far as I'm
    concerned.

    >_<

Nah he don't know what he's saying. The 555m performs about the same as a 260m. Just message the guy back with a few benchmarks and he'll shut up.

What I've read is that the 555m in the M14x is better.

Something with 192 bit VS 256 bit.

Well the 555m is newer tech with DX11 etc. The 260m however is removable.

They are all same i guess, seriously who the fawk cares about its thin or not, with the weight of 7lbs, no one would bring a piece of brick going around,if you really need a laptop that is light, portable, no one would choose a product weight over 4lb.
if they r not doing gaming laptop, its fine. but no,so wt's the point with that thin?are they afraid my desk not solid enough?lol
wt kind of game i could play with that piece of junk 555m?
    solitaire?seriously?
besides the cover design of that blade sux :0

this laptop just looks awesome, i would buy it if it was around 1.2k maybe.... but dual core...? that is ridiculous, seriously. this is one of the first things i have been disappointed in razer with. lol

oh, and i cant wait till apple sees this LOL. since they are suing EVERY company that makes a product that looks 60% like any of their product. and this just looks like a gaming version of a macbook. i do like it though, very minimalistic.

What use would quad core be?

Also, the form factor of the Razer would have a lot of trouble managing heat from a quad core processor. The MBPs have trouble with dual core as it is.

Never having owned an Alienware laptop before I chose to buy it mostly due to the active cooling - 2 fans, plenty of room for the air to flow (compared to most laptops). It was meant to be used for gaming from the start hence the concern.
I fail to see the point of a very compact 'gaming' laptop sporting rather unimpressive hardware and only suitable for gamers who are happy to sacrifice a big chunk of performance for the sake of portability.
Imho Razer wanted to impress users with how portable a gaming laptop can be, but failed to solve the heating issue and, having ended up with a pretty average(and seriously overpriced) machine, decided to be a bit vague about the actual hardware(i.e. CPU), which looks a bit sad.
And the soldered in GPU... I frankly struggle to see Razers target market.

    specs aside...

the irony of having a touchpad as a main feature for a gaming laptop...
any serious gamer here even use the touchpad?

whoop-de-do, i can now properly emulate nintendo ds games and play them on a touchpad... ON MY LAPTOP!

asif i'm gonna let my hand off the mouse to touch a "touch panel"

Alienwares have better cooling. They are also significantly thicker.

    Quad core Macs are offered.

Macs are great for general purpose. Excellent battery life, good aesthetics. I wouldn't mind one; it's just that I'm not going to pay an arm and a leg for it.

Aluminum does help with heat. It heats up fast!

Back when I used to own a MacBook Pro I had the logic board replaced twice due to overheating.
