    Hi all,

I was recently given a HP G6 1031TX that has been splashed by water, so it doesnt work anymore. Since it's got an i5-480M, can I put that into my M15X, selling my i7-740QM and upgrade my hd5730m to a hd6970m or hd6990m? Will it be safe to know that the processor that has possibly been in contact with water will not destroy my whole laptop?

EDIT: Only using laptop for mobile gaming. Probably some Microsoft Office stuff, but nothing video related.

    Cheers,
    CoHmS.

To answer your technical question - i doubt it would damage the laptop even if it had been in contact with water. But I suppose there is no way to be certain.

To come with a more subjective answer over all: you'll never be able to sell a used i7-740QM for more than I'd say 60-80 USD, tops... But the last sucker hasn't been born yet, so you might be lucky and charge someone 100 USD for it.

    A HD6970 is ~400 CAD USD and the HD6990 is around 450.

hmm.. by the looks of things, its just simpler to replace my graphics card with a gtx560m and keep my processor. Thanks for the reply Fersknen.
