I've started getting this weird problem ever since I swapped from the gtx 260m to the amd 5850m. When I leave my laptop on overnight to download stuff, I wake up in the morning and I think my laptop goes into a hibernate state. Now the weird thing is that its on balanced mode and all the settings are set to do nothing (close lid, hdd timer, display timer, sleep, hibernate, etc).

When I open the lid on my laptop and press the power button the screen goes to the welcome screen, and then its as though the computer goes back to hibernate after about 5-10 seconds. Then it won't display anything on the screen, and I know its still on because my wireless mouse receiver light is blinking (meaning the laptop is on). I have to hold the power button down to turn the computer off, then press it again to turn it on but the computer actually turns on as though it resumed from a hibernation because my programs are still open (sometimes I have to press the power button a few times for it to turn on).

All my temps are fine, everything works normally, tried leaving my laptop on with powerplay both enabled and disabled in CCC but I get the same result.

Anyone know how to fix it or what the cause is? Sorry for the long winded post.

EDIT**: Also, once my laptop does turn on I've realized that both my cpu and gpu clocks run at max no matter what.

Yes that was one of the first things I tried.
