Yes, this will work with in a M15x, but you'll need HWiNFO64 for automatic fan control, and you have to contact the seller in advance to make sure you get a card on which it's possible to mount a backplate or that he sends you screws that will fit for this card...

As you can see on the picture, the "backplate", or more accurate the screw holes for fixing the heatsink are soldered to the card, which makes it impossible to use your backplate. And since the screw holes have a slightly smaller diameter than the ones Dell uses, the M15x heatsink screws won't fit.

You can also take a look at the first post here, there I described this issue as well, along with some pics. Take a look at "Clevo 6970m" in the paragraph "Cards that are known to work".

Otherwise I can highly recommend taking a look at the marketplace, there's a Dell 6970m for sale for a very decent price (as long as it hasn't been sold yet).

i bought that exact same card (same seller even).
i ended up drilling holes using a tabletop drill and proper bits through the screw holes.

works perfectly with hwinfo32, flashed it with a dell bios so powerplay and sound over hdmi works as well.
