Hey guys !! I ordered my m15x in the UK around the 10th of Feb and my estimated shipping date is the 10th of March. I had to change my order when the Penryns came out. I have been in phase 4 for a bit longer than 2 weeks not. I guess its because they don't have the LCDs and processors. I really hope they get things sorted soon and production moves on.

Best of luck to all you guys and I hope we all get perfectly made and problem free m15xs soon!!

i wish they hadnt allowed orders until they had the parts. This is getting to become a joke. It will be over a month since i ordered my m15x on the 9th and im seriously considering cancelling my order.

yes.. it is stupid how they work.. it's like they were waiting for us to pay for the equipment ourselves! no expenditure for them at all it seems..

hang in there mate.. if you give up now, it's like running a 20mile marathon and giving up at the final 5miles..

finish line is coming up soon enough..

I can't see their cashflow being the problem here, unless dell is not supporting them.
They manage to get orders out in the states, I think it might be to do with logistics.

I have a feeling parts are held up in more customs departments on the way to Ireland, than they do getting to the states.

their stories dont hang together though, so it could be anything
however should a serious boutique contender emerge, they will have to get their act in order, but at the moment they are not up against anyone offering the same product

So... ordered 5th of february, called them today. Answer was, we still dont have the parts but your system will be shipped by the end of the month :D. So I guess still some 2 weeks or more till it comes and it will make a grand total of 6-7 weeks from order till shipment. Should we start calling to get some free stuff from these guys?

end of the month??! i've been thinking that when they get the parts this wednesday, they'd finish the build by the end of the week and tests will be done the next week and the following, it'd be shipped! i mean c'mon.. does really need to take more than a week to test?? this news is not good.. i hope you're really wrong though.. :(

The emails i sent to them, were verging on asking for free stuff, but if the 'phase' doesnt change in the next couple of days im going to ring up and demand some sort of consolation from them.

How about we all push for premium delivery? That's a small token freebie, and it's relevant as they've kept us waiting.

I ordered 6 Feb, my estimated ship date 3 March, now still in phase 4 and i did not receive any email from alienware for this delay.

SsuRReaLL, equally crazy I think. I'm usually really impatient and go for premium delivery on a big order like this, but with Alienware even I couldn't stomach going for the really expensive option. I had to settle for the expensive one instead.

tough 1, ask yourself why you chose the m15x in the first place and is there an alternative for you. But first keep trying to contact them also by phone before you regret your decision to cancel. You could say if you don't get an satisfying you might cancel. Canceling is the last resort i think.

kaak, also bear in mind they're not just messing you around, but all of us. We're all in the same boat. There's no way of getting one any sooner, they just launched too soon in Europe it seems.

all I can say is its a sign of terrible customer service, and from what I have seen on other threads, the build quality is showing flaws.

looks like I will have to strip mine down and rebuild it with fresh arctic silver by the looks of some posts on this forum!!!

    shoddy service, shoddy build?
if there is anything wrong with mine, trading standards are getting involved

it might be completely different in Europe. If I remember correctly the European AW manufacture is in Ireland, and for US its in Florida (?) Were gonna have different people building these, and since nobody has received their European m15x yet, theres no way to know how its gonna be.
Just gonna have to wait -.-

I just got a call by Dell about my xps1530 order I canceled because of the lack of LG screens (1440x900 only). He said they could deliver now. This is the same one used by AW, so MAYBE AW will start assembly now. He was enthusiastic about my alternative choice. :D

If you send them an email, they will send you one in less than 24hours probabaly.

yes, you can change processors. i did that with no problem.. since you're still in phase 4, nothing has been built yet.. so, change your order if you want..

about the price, i'm sure you can just check the website.. or call 'em up..

Just receive an email from Alienware
    "Thank you for contacting Alienware.

Unfortunately, there has been a delay with your order. The Area-51 M15X 15" WUXGA W/CAM SIL-RIP-PNT is backordered and we are waiting for it to arrive. The expected date of arrival is March 10, 2008."

So, one more week in phase 4.....

I also got finally an awnser from AW.

Apart from the screen there seems to be the 6-Cell-primary-battery, th AC adapter and the smartbay battery missing. They said thei get a restock at 3rd of March.

If you ask me, since nobody in Europe seems to have gotten their m15x, they had not the parts to assambly the notebooks to begin with. Probably they upped the order-site in Europe to get customers on the hook before they switch to other manufacturers.

Lets say, they have now all the parts, and we are all in phase 4, it will take at least another 3 weeks until we see our NBs. Thats close to two months of waiting for the product after order. crazy. And I thought my estimated shipping date of 29th of Feb. plus a week would be realistic....hahahaha...

The m15x has to better every day to be worth its money :D

i'll most likely contact the AW rep that i've been dealing with this thursday to followup on my order status and the backordered part.

Remember, My supervisor is for my U.S. Order. If you remember my post in my other thread I said I'm only posting here to give you guys an idea on when they'll probably be arriving in the UK. If the screens will be in the US on march 5th, I'm sure they should be at the other manufacture site for UK purchases somewhere around the 5th.

But - Who knows.... I'll let you know if my order actually starts being built on the 5th. It was a Supervisor who sent me that e-mail so I would hope the supervisors working at AW would have CORRECT information (and I'm sure they do).

On another note: Did you see the post about the AS5? That's pretty scary stuff. Lets hope our notebooks don't explode when we turn them on. Alienware being this backed up... it looks like they're trying to rush through production and just Throw the lappy together.

Ok, so I managed to change my processor order. I originally had the T7800 intel core 2 duo 2.6Ghz and I wanted to change to the new T9500 2.6Ghz. It was a painless process over the phone and it turns out that the T9500 is cheaper than the old processor so now they gave me some ~80€ back. If you guys ordered in the first week when the new processors were not available you can consider changing it  .

However, about estimate time I couldn't squeeze any info from them. I got the official answer of please call back by the end of the week and we might have more details...

ive just sent them an email asking if they have received the parts that were estimated to be delivered on the 3rd. From what ive read they havnt, but lets see what they say to me. If also asked for some sort of consolation as my estimated shipping date was the 29/2/08. So we will see what they say.

If you're unhappy just get a dell xps m1730. It's big... but also more powerful and around the same price.. :O
I already almost cancelled my order with alienware because they had my order on "hold" for 3 weeks because they did not know how to apply a 5% discount. They never even told me I was on hold.. which is what bothered me. If AW doesn't start BUILDING my lappy on the 5th like the supervisor promised.... I'll be swapping to dell. I already have my xps specced out with a nice quote of 20% off from the sales rep i was talking to =}. If it was a little bit smaller and the power brick wasn't so huge I would have already swapped to it. But... if AW doesn't work Out at least I have a back up option.

Up close I think they look good. From far away they look bad because you can see the grey streaks across the "paint job." Up close you really can't see it. Yea, they are big but SLI might be very good in the near future.

nope. no changes here.. still in phase 4.. if you read the other threads, now there's news that components won't be received by them until 10th march.. which really screws everything up..

now i know why people in this forum whine a lot.. i'm starting to have that stressful feeling they did..

this is my first, and if this continues on, my last buy from AW. i've never had such bad service in my life.. i just want my laptop and tell them to F off..
