Ok guys some more news on the UK m15x story. I called AW today to ask about the thing and the person on the phone told me that the screens, adaptors and MOTHERBOARDS are unavialable and should come soon. I asked her how soon and she checked and said that she didnt know what the lead time was on the components. She told me call back next week cos my shipping date was the 10th which is monday so Ill call and ask again on monday. I doubt its a processor shortage cos when I called 10-12 days ago the guy said that the penryns would be coming the next days and would be evaulated in a couple of days

Was told today that all the parts are there ready 2 be built, she could hardly speak english, so i'll take it with apinch of salt -

Hehe, maybe we should start to retaliate a bit. What about if we make up a short complain email here in the forum and we all copy paste it and send it. Maybe making them get the same email from 20 ppl would wake them up? Also, just for a better strategy we should send it both to customer support and whatever email of the in charge guy we find

I was not saying more, a polite email of complaint (not even asking for free stuff) but coming from 20 different people. If we do this together they might realize we mean business
. Maybe, god forbids, they'll delay some US shipments by 1 day and get 1-2 europe shipments going...

I mailed them 3 times for different reasons, I never got an answer back. The last one is about not being able to make an user account on the support site with my customer number. I can logon to the purchase page just not the support page??? I cannot use my credentials from the purchase page which when used with "forgot user name?" returns email address unknown.
When making a new account: returns Invalid account number or email/zip code.
But why don't they mail back??? Never heard of such a thing!
I will have to call again *sigh* the costumer service reps are Spanish I think that don't speak English that well....
:edit 1 thing is unclear though the only number I received is an order number, I automatically presumed it to be my account number maybe this is a reason?? Does anyone know? -
Oh yeah, I've been having problems logging onto the support thingy myself. I received a username and randomly generated password but it doesnt seem to work. Im not sure but during the order process online, did we have to enter in a username and password? Can anyone whos has done this successfully tell us what details we need and which boxes on the login screen to type them?
Oh and I know they said that the delay is because of the chassis and adaptor, I just wanted to confirm it so that it didnt seem like they were telling people different stories. They also said that they didnt have the MOTHERBOARDS in stock. I too spoke to some foreign lady who had a French type accent. I think her name was Chloe or something else with a C .
Anyways we cant do anything, we just have to wait till next week and then if we dont get a decent reply, then we harass the **** out of them -
update on UK customers:
i just called alienware and asked about the freakishly long wait in phase 4 and yes, they are still waiting for parts! also said that the parts will arrive 'soon'. couldn't get more than that out of them.. but good news is, production AND testing will take about 5 business days.
so, if 10th of march is the actual components arrival date, we should get it on the 17th..
i also read somewhere in this forum that arrival will be in april.. if that is true, i'm cancelling.. 3 weeks of wasted nothing.. what were they doing since we ordered? busy spending our money?? just ridiculous..
edit: about CS personnel - i only got a guy with a spanish(?) accent when i had problems with my payment.. but now everytime i call for the order status, i get a woman with a very nice thick irish accent. very sexy. -

Cheers Shamneo for harassing them for info. The April thing applied to a standard European AC cord I think, so this delay may not apply to British cords. -
I'm going to use wire transfar. I have not made the wire tranfer yet and my order have past more than 10 days.
I'm going to do the wire tranfer later.

give them a call before wiring anything
. Also give them a call tomorrow or so to see if they got it. And then join the club and call them everyday to find out new dates for delivery of parts

The order number will be different from your account number, so I guess you'll need to ask them what your account number is, or maybe you see it on the delivery note or invoice or other documentation attached to the notebook packaging when it arrives?

) told me you receive an accountnumber upon receiving your lappie however she checked and gave me the accountnumber anyway

Maybe that sounded a lil' like I want to cancel because of the delivery time actually I don't care that much about it and have no right to do so yet. I was just upset about the AW treating a paying customer the way you would treat a child and the way this company does business almost to laugh about such amateurs (post#128). I payed a lot of money like us all.

The funny thing is - i havnt ordered an 'addition AC Adapter'. If this means the one that you get with it then fair enough, but i dont want 2?
ive sent them 3 emails back saying how dissapointed i am with their CS, and i expect some soft of consolation, but no emails back - not even any to say they have received the email. -

hehe, my C64 is still in full working condition. Only thing most tapes didn't resist the time test so is kinda hard to get something loading

Shamneo.... I feel the same way. I am a huge fan of Alienware's desktops. To be honest i've never been too interested in their notebooks. I just called Alienware and spoke to someone and they said the notebook is moving along fine and I should receive it march 14th. I'm thinking they're just telling me what I want to hear to be honest because I've already cancelled once. I really don't know if I want the notebook anymore. Customer service is clearly poor and the horror stories of people who have received their notebooks is pretty damn bad. Driver support / broken GPU's / Overheating..... I really don't know if I can throw down $3K for this system/company.

the Dell 720 desktop comes with a 22 inch monitor and a 8800 GTX desktop card for about 2200-2500$. It's pretty nice for that price

but seriously, i'll give AW one last chance.. if i have to wait longer than my predicted estimation of delivery (17th march) i'll call and cancel. and if i do get it before then, but i find out there's a problem with it, i'll give it back and scream for my money back..
i hope you do get yours around that time.
@ ssurreall - i'd love to build it myself but i don't have the practical knowledge and time for it. i have the money, i might as well pay someone to do it for me and i can go straight to enjoying it.

The Dell XPS line has their own customer and tech support specifically for XPS owners. Also, Dell owns Alienware but they are still two seperate companies. The people I talked to at alienware said that Dell owns their company but they act seperately from Dell. They're basically just a sub branch of dell; two seperate companies.
