For all that got it to install, what OS are you running? Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit?

Just fyi, I installed the drives, it did not ask me to reboot so I did that anyways.. then once I booted back into windows, it was only running on the 9400, I had to re enable the 280s...

This driver has been working great since I installed it. Waking from Sleep/Standby is working also.

Beast, what is your process when updating your NVIDIA driver? How do you install it?

Can't speak about Vista, but in Win7 when FnF7 would not work for me, I needed to go into the Advanced Power settings for the GPU, set the default when plugged in to "Performance boost", apply, wait for the change, then change it back to "Save power". After that, Fn+F7 would start working again.

Though I haven't had it happen again since these new drivers.

my installation process is uninstall previous drivers in add or remove programs.
then restart, check under device manager to make sure.
double click the new driver and install.

i was able to right click on hybrid in task bar and select boost or save. when i selected boost my screen went black.

Worked perfectly for me on Vista 64-bit and Geforce 260SLI. Uninstall from RemovePrograms, reboot, install, reboot. Stealth mode appears to be functioning correctly and solved some video issues I was having in stealth mode. Ran Crysis Warhead on max settings for a couple hours without issue.

Just use the 186.82 drivers from windows update that were posted in a post above. They work in Windows 7 off the bat, 186.81 don't (they do on Vista). Their .inf isn't working on Windows 7. 186.82 seem to be the most stable and feel the smoothest in both destkop and gaming operation for me in Windows 7 Build 7100 RC so far as well.

Can anybody tell me the differance between the 186.81 and the 186.82 (I didn't see any). The 186.81 installed pretty well. Maybe performance?

    186.82 install with Windows 7, 181.81 don't (at least without a modified .inf). ;)

Besides that, 186.82 seems to perform better.

The only issue I have with 186.82 and most of the other drivers is the fing mGPU is listed as a '9400'. I know, its a small matter... but I just can't figure it out - no matter what I do to the INF it still comes up as 9400. Oh well.

Because its actually a "9400M G". ;) I think the only driver to correctly report this was the 179.85. As I said, a small matter. No big deal.

Mine is saying (with the 186.81 driver) 9400M G?

@Mandrake, Please let us know, If your stuttering is gone with the 186.82. Because I'm not experiencing any with the 186.81. What game(s) are you having it with?

I just installed windows 7 and the file linked for .81 would not install. Could not find supported device. I used the windows updated one and it worked and instlalled with no issues.. The icon in the task bar doesnt allow me to swap modes either.. I will see how it works in games once I have them installed.

I am running windows 7 RTM 64 bit ultimate.

btw in device manager there is still a coprocessor that is not installed.. I installed the MCP drivers from dell (SMU) and it still wasnt installed.. any ideas?

They're available from the Windows Update side or Laptopvideo2go.com. The latter site is a great site to visit if you're looking for any driver versions for Nvidia cards (including modified .infs if needed).

Hey guys is it just me or do these new drivers idle your 8800m gtxes at 70-7 degree c? I have the m15x with 8800m gtx. I think I recalled using earlier 179.13 drivers and they idled my 8800m gtx at 45c

This is on high performance without stealth mode on. With stealthmode it usualy drops to 55c

Okay installed the 186.82 driver, because the 186.81 just wouldn't work with Empire Total War (could be the BIOS update to A02 aswell). So I'm going to take a look now if it works alright.
@BatBoy, With the 186.82 driver my integrated card also says 9400.

The 186.82, with the modded .inf seems to be a LOT more stable than the previous version for me.

i frequently had crashes, both in game and out of game, which would simply freeze up my M17x on the older driver...

been running it since saturday morning and so far, no problems along those lines.

however, i'm still unable to hook it up to a projector...each time i do it'll freeze up again...black screen....i've tried both with running in stealth mode and without.

any ideas on what could fix this? it's basically any projector...once i hook it up to the vga port that's it...the projector will say it's on, but nothing happens - tried both an Epson, a Dell and a Fujitsu projector..none will display anything at all.

Are you using Nvidia control panel to connect to projector or Windoze? Do you have Nvidia HDMI driver installed, are you using HDMI? Is HDMI enabled in BIOS? Sometimes(don't know why) disply driver changes disables HDMI in BIOS with Nvidia chipset.

Did you upgrade your BIOS to the A01 or A02? That's what solved my issue of the M17x freezing.

But I'm back on stock drivers (179.85) because all other drivers (186.81/82) just can't run Empire Total War, the game just wouldn't load when entering the campagn map.

i just got this driver today on my 8800gts, there is something wrong with the anti aliasing though. it gives very little effect, for the batman arkham asylum demo there is only about 10 FPS difference between no AA to 16xQ, anyone else noticed this? i tried a couple other games and 8x AA looks like 2x lol

Well, I'll take a stab at this - since you have the 8800GTS and a Gateway that does not have a mGPU, go with the 186.42.
