I'm about to mess with it right now, I just have a few questions

and thx for the rep scook :)

1 - When adjusting the Host Clock Frequency, do I need to up the voltage as well?

2 - How do you guys know when more voltage is needed?

3 - What is a safe increment to adjust the HCF by? it's currently at default 266

    Thanks :)

EDIT: Just a cool sidenote, the monitoring bit that comes with this software is the jam, it shows your fan rpm's as well as the maximum temperature threshold for your hardware! pretty nifty, says the 4850's max out at 127C, but are in danger at around 95C .. it even tells me my memory temp?? Weird.. i didn't know crucial put temperature diodes in their ram chips.. it reads them at 42 & 43C

I think you should use Zfactor's 0.28 BIOS, you don't have to worry about the voltage anymore, but the maximum is to overclock to 3GHZ i believe, it says in the readme file.

    Maximum for a quad ;)

Maximus has an X9100 like me because of the issues with quad...3.3+ is easily obtainable.

When I've got my 9300 stable at 3.33Ghz, I start getting memory errors in the stress test. The errors don't appear at 3.06Ghz. I've got 4GB of the OCZ 1333 RAM. Is there some way to isolate what the problem actually is? I'm using the XTU.

Do you have the ability to change the memory bus speed within XTU?

also have you tested with different memory?

If it allows you to adjust the memory bus match it to the fsb and see if that helps. It may link it automatically, I've never used the program.

Anyone have the manufacturer part number for the 4850s? When I call they can't even find it in their system.

Best of luck, the sales guy you got was an idiot.

He will come back with the same answer everyone's gotten, the stock they have is for warranty replacement only.

    Sorry.

The 'new batch' theory isnt going to happen. Anyone with any sense at alienware is telling me that what they have is the last they are getting. Thats why its strictly being held for warranty replacements ONLY. They are hoping to have people fall out of warranty so they can be done with this problem for them. They really dont care about us, they only care about their legal responsibility to warranty bad parts. After all warranty claims are over, there will be no stock of 4850s left.
