make that no opinion rather! lol rob/zfactor/e-wrecked/mark all say they will fit.

    :D

edit: after reading that.. seems your right...i think they we're getting mixed up between x2 and two cards.. also if he knew what he was talking about..he would know...saying "sli" is sacrilege when talking about ati cards. when everyone should know it's crossfire. :D

I'm sure they will fit the ocz + variants. It would be stupid for them not to fit im sure alienware is planing on something to replace the m15x that may use a version of the 48xx. but to not put it in the m17 would be stupid since it is fairly new. same goes for OCZ

I know you know everything! :p

    Another litle question:
(pls don't think all germans are silly :D )

"SB" said a x2 version would have no microrucks (don't know wether you call it like this) and I disagreed ... now what do you think?

Nah 15" will be the 4850 max, which will still be really awesome performance, probably > 9800M GTX at a fraction of the cost.

Let's make it known... OCZ says it will be possible. OCZ Verfies it. Here's the thread

    http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49184

Oh..and if it fits the OCZ it also fits the AW M17 - Just to clarify.

EDIT: Sidenote, the person mentions the 4870 x2 because the drivers provided thus far all call it the 3870 x2 Crossfire.. Im not confirming the 4870x2 in Crossfire fits. I am confirming the 2 x 4870s in Crossfire fit. ;)

I read on some Taiwanese website (that I can't find anymore when searching google news) that ATi officialized the max TDP for the two high end cards: 4850 being rated as 55w TDP and the 4870 being rated as 65w TDP. If this is true, it the latter may be possible in 15 inch notebooks like the Clevo and Alienware. We need a super rich guy with no life to test if it would work on both chassis when the time comes...

I am not super rich, but I am that guy, especially if the 4850 is under $300. What's the 9800M GT TDP, 65W?

Same here. I would purchase, then sell an M15x (I doubt people would loan me an M15x at this point to test, like the awesome Matt Lee did with his M9700), but I gotta get ready for tax season and pay off my credit card.

According to Notebookcheck.net, the 9800M GT has a TDP max of 65w and the 9800M GTX rated as 75w max, but again, the TDP numbers are just the maximum power it can consume before becoming unstable. A 9800M GT or GTX in stock form won't be consuming anywhere near that much power; same with the ATi cards. You'll need to overclock to get up to that point.

guys they will FIT. and they will be 2 CARDS NOT ONE. they will be still 2 separate 4870's not a 4870 x2 card. the newest driver may read them that way as they do the current 3870's.

they will for sure fit. dont even worry about it if that is what is holding up your order now..

again 2 cards in crossfire NOT a 4870x2 just want to make sure that is correct

I think the confirmation people are looking for is that its a button they can select on the configuration page. it doesn't matter how many places confirm it, even if amd/ati start putting advertisements on TV, they need more.
