just finish talking to her she was very nice but too confuse the gtx295 was a desktop part for sure but after she found out the gtx-280m #X203R and code me a price $950 aeach for two $1900 + tax and after I hear the price told her thank's she say hold down let me try to give you a offer, she say if I purchase two they send some one to replace it and they trow a 4gb memory module for 454 dollars I told her thank's alot can't afford that

i just got off the phone and i dident tell them i already had them and they quoted me 1504.00

shipped ...and they said the price will drop 200.00 in 3 weeks ...and they said its a hell of a deal....lol

 

Lol yeah thats one way for certain to get them and almost inevitable that someone does at somepoint.

When the new ATI cards come out there will be plenty for sale as well . But by then you might not even want them at all .

i talked to friend in europe about and he told me that alienware has not been to happy or impressed with ati....at all...and they are not happy with supporting it...fyi.......

quad your right 1504.00 sucks but when i made the mistake of not getting it in the first place i had to do it....my wife was super pissed...still on the couch

 

Ben i dont understand why you felt you needed them in the first place ?. When it comes to actual gaming there not going to give you any more performance trust me on that . If i had to do it over i would have grabbed the 260s and saved the $300.00 bucks quite frankly. My machine is being sold to a friend now though and i may reorder when the new cards hit.

Box them up and ship em back if you dont find anyone wanting to buy your 260s as youll make your wife happy and you can get the ATI cards when they hit which will be a massive improvement compared to the upgrade from 260s to 280s.

Theres not even been a 10% improvement over the 260s.

I wont argue with you though as its your $$ but its proven all over the boards and everywhere else on the net.

 

i thought that way my self..until i spoke to the level 3 lab techs....that told me they have had alot of issues with the 260's....
and the life of the cards are not lasting at all.....when they did all of there tests......they found a 16% increase of performance

Thats bollocks and if it were 16% it comes in the form of synthetic benchmarks and not actual games themselves. Not trying to make you feel bad about your purchase since i bought the 280s myself but in the end they were not what i had hoped they would be IMHO. i think you had something wrong with your cards honestly . If the card failure rate is that high then they could just keep replacing them under warranty with no money out of pocket for you .

but to be honest here is the deal i think the systems from microcenter...ect...costco ...bestbuy...are made at a diff facility...then the alienware one.....that is why they have more issues then the direct ordered systems do....that was also from a alienware tech..(nameless) off the books...

yes my wife is very good friends with the packard family so i got mine for really cheap....but....i ordered mine again through alienware...with it all loaded...so yes now i have another ****en processor....sucks

 

Wish you lived near me Ben we could have done side by side comparisons in games and i would have shown you the truth about the difference in the cards .

Is that where you bought your machine ? Microcenter ? I didnt know you could get all that help from dell if you got it at a retail store.

As for the machines being built in other places im gonna call foul on that one because in the end they all have to use the same exact components IE Motherboard ,video cards etc.
