like I'm the only one checking for changes to allpowerful.com....so what if it was the first thing I did when I woke up, does that make me obsessive? ;)

Only if you measure per watt and the M15x uses a 40-nm GPU.

I got to say this, whatever specs are in the M15x it's got it's work cut out for it against HP's Envy 15. A 4830 may not be the most powerful GPU out but it's got performance somewhere between a Mobility 4670 and a 4850 packed into a notebook 1" thick with the ODD removed to allow for RAID.

Short of 5000 series cards hardware specs alone aren't going to impress me enough over the design wins of the Envy.

    Meh

I don't want a mb clone and, imo, the envy looks like garbage....

and what about heat in such a thin package. Hopefully the price will lineup up better with like systems compared to older VooDoo systems.

just jesting pal.....I like to think all of us that own Alineware PCs are in some way obsessive....especially when waiting for some exciting news.

I would be even more excited if I could see a way to pay for a new machine as I suspect you guys are planning.

    good luck.

If they refresh the M17x with i7, dual 5870's, and an RGBLED screen..I'll be a happy camper/customer.

I doubt it, but it'd be nice.

    That's fine with me.

As long as I can get a good config around $2k after discounts (~$2500 before discounts) :)

There is a new section @ TGS this year - mobile high-end gaming :)

    Go figure!

They will probably have demo units of the new systems there for sure.

Well I'd say its a guaruntee its the new M15x is going to be announced that day. The link you click on is a picture of a laptop. Maybe a the rumored M17x with a 5000 card and i7? Either way its going to an a painstakingly long wait, with a hopefully good ending. :D

I am soooo happy we have dates now... but as the general consensus has been, I sure hope it is not a date to another countdown! At least there is more concrete info and my money is still safe in the savings account. woohoo!!

I hope we get some more leaked pics like we did for the M17x. I do not want to get my hopes up thinking it is a 15/16 inch laptop, just to find out it is a 12/13 inch one. *crossing fingers*. Sleey0, what did you decide to do with the 17x?

Keeping it, selling the 280 (eventually), and getting my wife the refresh :D

She has taken a liking to my M17x but it is too heavy for her.

It's a big debate, thats for sure.

Not sure if I'd favor the i7 with new architecture, but only able to OC one core to 2.93 I think it was..(and rest get underclocked?)

or the QX9300 2.53, older architecture, able to OC to 3.2+ all 4 cores.

I have recently learned that it can oc all cores as long as power and thermals are right.

So, realistically, we should see at least 2 cores oc well in the mobile i7's.

So in the current architecture, what quad core has the the most O/C-ability ?

I don't think ill need the latest and greatest hardware around. I'm content with the current quad cores that i've played around with.

Hello Bubbamel, good to see you as well :)

I'm sure alienware, will also price whatever they are bringing out well. They seem to be getting this aspect right these days. Isn't is always crazy exciting when Alienware is bringing out something?

I still stick to the 16" notebook theory but what if its a Alienware netbook?! Can you imagine? An 11.6" netbook from them with like a 4670 or something haha. That would be awesome!(Realizes that probably isnt going to happen....)

no one has pointed out that the M17x refresh will likely be a M18x actually with a 16:9 1920x1080 screen (and a little more room for cooking the goods)

sadly the 16:10 days are pretty much gone for notebooks

it is just that 18" 16:9 screens are somewhat common (HP HDX 18t and Clevo M980nu)

Oh yeah i know as i owned the W90, another 18.4 machine :). i dont mind 16:9 screens in the least as long as the screen itself is top notch. the HDX dragon though was 20 inches which totally rocked.
