So I'm not sure what to do now, it's still 17% off but they pretty much lied. Should I try to call and talk to another rep and start over, or try to get a supervisor or try to get a rep to get the $50 coupon applied the latest 2705 quote unless its already in the system, which is backhanded because they would probably never apply a $50 coupon unless I ask because they never mentioned it.
-
If you got the coupon it should say this in the quote -
"463-0742 1 Special Pricing Applied
* -DISCOUNT/COUPON APPL"
Atleast on most quote's i got it did where i asked about the coupon -
If Raymond The Rep
e-mailed you the quote, you have his e-mail right? Can't you just e-mail him and tell him to call you back?
-
Raymond was never my rep, he was doublee's rep and yea it says DISCOUNT/COUPON APPL, perhaps knowing how they lie I should have asked for the 2705 quote to be emailed before asking for the coupon and being hung up on so she could apply it before the 2705 so it would end up 2705 with the coupon applied. So then I could ask another rep to apply it.
-
Haggling tip: They can't see you!! You can lie down on the couch and get cozy, make a cup of tea, maybe even surf the net on another computer while you talk to them!! They are stuck at a desk, in a chair, in an office, away from home. If you call near (~ 2-3 hours) from closing time they will be wanting to get home soon and you can keep past closing time and they just want to go home but they can't just hang up on you!!! They are way more likely to heap on the discounts if they want to just end the thing. This works five times as well on Fridays.

Can I still get 3% off using already existing DPA ??
-
The website link has been gone for quite a while now. -
I called and the idiot at the other end says sorry cannot apply the 3% because you already purchased something "XPS 1640" which I RETURNED last year for a full refund and he says there is no indication I returned it. I have the friggen confirmation number and tracking number of the XPS 1640 I returned but he doesn't give a about it. I ask for the supervisor and he says he is one. He won't take the 3% off so I hang up.
-
-
I am working on the same type of thing you are, I told "Joann" I would like 20% off, got thesame type of response, you know "it's the best we can do", I tell her to call me back today if she can do better "20%". Right now I'm around 14% also, I think she tried to call me back a hour ago, I was at lunch. I will post any updates I get. My system's starting price is $2,809.00, the last I was offerd was $2,428.10 which is around 14%. I need to be around $2,247.20 give or take $50.00.
-
Another rep, this time he says his supervisor says the 3% deal is over. lies lies lies lies
-
and now this rep is configuring the same system to see what kind of deal he can give me, I have a strong feeling I am wasting more time and more talk minutes.
-
do these reps ever talk to each other? Each time you call do they see the deal from the last rep?
On my P-171fx I got 28% off and it was not to hard to get. Times have changed I guess, but with the economy we should be able to swing a deal. -
well ok this guy wouldn't budge on the 3% dpa saying it was no longer available lol.. and now he says oh the free shipping offer is over too sorry lol.. full of bs geeze. Well I'm done. Oh right he said he would call me back if he could some how get a better deal for me (yea right LOL).
-
Well you can always look at the Asus G73jh-A1's, that's what I told them
, $1,700.00
-
Some reps take notes as to what you ask for, etc. They can see the last times you called, if you used the same profile. I called 2 reps and the 2nd time the guy was like "i see you just called ten minutes ago" blah blah, couldn't offer me anything off. Just be patient IMO. I was sick of dealing with reps so I just ended up getting 12% + $50 off + free NBD shipping and "promised" expediting production.
-
Yes, they see that from the number you called from. Call from Skype or other phone.
-
Now I am playing the same game, they told me the 10% I get with my EPP is the best they can do, I told them about the other sales rep giving me a extra $100.00 off, and he said he would check on it. He called me back while I was driving and getting gas, and told me he could do the extra $100.00, the price he gave me was the same as my quote from last night, they increased the Tax and shipping some how. I swear, just give me what you say, no phony Bologny stuff. I mean really, why lie to me, I did not lie to them to get a deal, I was strait up about what I expected. I am a Key Account Mgr. for a Large Beverage Company, I am responsible for $2m worth of business, I know how to sell, and this is a good example how not to. I will update after I talk to a higher up type person, the sales team seems to not be located in the US either, just a observation.
-
are you going for the 3% dpa? Now they tell me its no longer available
-
what is the dpa 3%, 3% off? or interest? I am going for the 12 month 0%. I am on hold now, its a shift change right now, lol, what a pain, lol
-
If you have a good credit rating (US), they can give you 3% off discount on pretty much anything that you'll buy. This discount can be stack with virtually anything else, including Bing cashback. They call it Dell Preferred Account (DPA).
I never had that discount applied, since I do not have any credit rating, but few sales reps asked me about it and told me that in principle in can be applied to anything. Ask them about it if they haven't mentioned it. -
supposedly you get 3% off your subtotal, like 10% + 3% off when using dpa.. ask the rep about it see if it is still available.
-
ok, thanks, still on hold 16 mins so far, I am at around 13%off as is right now I think
-
Back when Gateway had a phone sales team, they where awesome, you did not get the run a round like this 22 mins a holding
*update*
24 mins on hold, then they hung up on me. I read these kind of posts all the time and thing the person is making a big deal out of it, but with the ,.,. I am going to spend $2,400.00+ and this is what I have to go through?
Asus while not as pretty, I can still just buy it and be done.and save $700.00
-
Ok wow one last time I call them I get a WHITE GUY FROM AUSTIN TEXAS THANK GOD FOR THE USA. He gets me the extra 3% off without hesitation, just said alright, im on hold right now while he erases shipping charge. He said no to free NBD shipping though but i'll call CS about that later. So my total before tax would be 2624, original online 3228 so pretty good. Not as good as doublee but its nearly 20%.
-
Hahaha!
Great, nice deal! But didn't you say you had the quote from "The Rep" Raymond for $2.5k ? Don't worry about NBD, if you choose FedEx express 3-5 it comes pretty fast anyway (shipped Fri, delivered Mon for me). -

+Rep
I will call him when your done, thank you, what did your %off end up being? -
lets see, $3228 configured on the site, then down to $2624 so around 19%, oh and I'm done btw.
-
Before I hung up I told him how I went through so many reps and how he was the only helpful one.
-
That's awesome, just what I was looking for, calling now.
-
-
I just left him a message, I am looking at the same system except a i7 620M, 4mb DDR3 at 1066MHz, and Black, so I should be around $2,300.00ish before Shipping and Tax.

I just got off the phone with Aw, the sales rep I dealt with was so much better than the non us reps. No BS, got a great deal 20% off, baziga! I can't wait, now up for sell, a Gateway P-6860FX
, and half my soul
-
-
I talked to the same rep you did, when I left him a message, I said I would like 20% off, and did not want to beat around the bush about it. We talked about favorite PC games and stuff while he went over my order, I already had a setup in the system. At the end of the conversation, he told me the price, and I said cool! We should get our systems around the same time, May 1stish. I went with the 720QM with 4gb 1333 mem after talking to him, I figured the new software coming out will use the quad tech more and more. I also asked about the problems with the 4870 ATI's flickering, he said it was more driver related than anything, and ATI is updating their drivers more aften now. I asked about the 5870's coming out, he guessed in three months or so. At any rate it was truly refreshing to deal with a US rep, the best advise, ask for a US rep, it may help, at lest he was into computers, unlike the scripted non-US reps. Alienware is really missing the boat on this point, they sell them selfs as a gamers company, they should take lessons from BFG, Asus, EVGA, all of which are truly into what they do. I called BFG at 2:00am one time, I had a Video card go out, the girl that answered the phone was playing a FPS when I called, and had a RMA done in mins.
-
Guys I've been tracking this for a while. Nice job on the deals. I didn't realize part of your problem was dealing with non U.S. Reps. I've always dealt with U.S. Reps who had thier own extension (really) and had thier own personalized emails. I'll be sure to update the OP with that info.
-
One more thing, the extensions I got from the non US reps where all bad, every time I tried one of them they put me through to a random rep. The US rep extension worked no problem.
-
Thanks. Just got post one update below the haggling section and right before the quotes section. Great advice. I never thought about it.
-
With my job, I am usually on the other side of deals, it was nice to get a deal myself. Thank you for your information
+rep -
No prob. Glad the thread is useful. I've had a lot of positive feedback on it. +rep for the tip.

Double Post

Guys this is what I imagine when speaking to one of those Indian reps, a small crowded office building cramped full of Indians in little cubicles with their 1 or 2 supervisors screaming no discount! no discount! then ok discount! ok discount! to random reps asking them if they can lower the price. Or maybe its even easier for the random reps, they just put their customers on hold while they take a coffee break and come back and tell them sorry that is the absolute lowest price we can offer while another rep in that same building gives a completely different answer to that same customer. These people must get paid pennies by the hour and so their only real income is from commission so they hate giving a good deal. (That's just a guess). Which is why they are willing to hang up on you so easily, good luck trying to get a hold of them again lol.
From my experience, those outsourced reps do no have direct contact info, if asked to speak to a specific rep they will lie and tell you either A) that rep is off today B) that rep is on the phone with another customer or C) they want you to provide that reps extension when in fact there is only one extension lol. If some how they provide a great quote to you over the phone and you ask them to email it they will put you on hold for 40 minutes until you finally hang up, although perhaps they were willing to see if you could last an hour on hold then finally come back and give you that great deal like that one mtv show. The new rep will tell you after you just got a great quote over the phone and tell you the best he can do is the same as you get ordering online. They will hang up on you if you explain to them your experience thus far, after giving you their best offer and when you ask to use the $50 coupon they will hang up on you, then a different rep will call you 15 minutes later to tell you, oh that 50 off coupon was part of the original deal, not like they entered the 50 off in the system so the subtotal would come out to that amount after they hung up on you right? They will tell you the 3% dpa deal is for new dpa accounts and the system says you still own a xps 1640 that you returned for a full refund last year and have an email from dell_us_returns with a confirmation number and tracking number but the supervisor rep keeps insisting the system says otherwise ignoring your willingness to provide the confirmation number. You call back and get a different rep and now they say the 3% is no longer offered oh and the free shipping on your quote is no longer offered either. Oh and you're put on hold numerous times at what seems like 15 minute intervals and all the while you can hear hundreds of other reps in the background.
I imagine the US reps are in a nice cozy offices, perhaps they have their own office space or are in cubicles but either way they're in a comfortable laid back environment. I imagine these guys are paid pretty well and are not worried about giving a good deal to customers.
My last call of the week and of Friday came at around 8:30 pm EST and this was my absolute last time I would call them, I was tired and not hopeful of the outcome. I was randomly directed to a US rep, I know this because he didn't have any accent and I asked him if he was from the US, he told me he was from Austin, Texas. I told him I had a quote and was interested in purchasing the notebook then he asked me what the problem was and I told him no other reps were willing to provide the 3% dpa discount so he told me he could do that no problem and proceeded to take off 3% plus waived the shipping fee without me asking. After everything was all set and done I told him I've been through so many reps and how he was the only helpful one. He chuckled and told me his direct contact info was in the order email I would be receiving. He had his own email address and his own extension, unbelievable.
So in conclusion, GET A US REP, if you hear an Indian accent or Spanish accent you can forget trying to get a good deal. Now not all US reps are willing to provide a great deal either. My other US rep I had ordered through previously told me the 3% dpa was no longer available either so he wasn't very helpful. The only US reps I know that can be easily contacted through their myspace is Team Black Hawk. I have never contacted them personally but you can order Alienware through them and they are in the US.
