So would you have to give your Credit Card info over the phone or can they setup a Paypal option for you once you haggle the price down a little?
-
Once you make the deal with your Online Rep, they will get your phone number, and handle the payment on the Phone.

lol That's crazy guys, P. Kumar was the guy that sold me my Alienware laptop...

OK guys just had a go with the online chat and it went something like this:
ME: hello
REP: hello welcome to dell bla bla bla.......
ME: so I'm trying to buy an m15x but its a little over my budget is there any way to get a discount?
REP: bla bla bla prices cant be changed, beside de online promotions bla bla bla....
ME:but i know a guy who got like 15% off is final price by getting a deal with a rep, is there anyway that i can get that kind of deal?
REP: sorry we cant give additional discounts, you will have to talk to that agent.
ME: Ok thank you cheers
Is this the way you guys do it? Or do you have any tips? -
I did this
"I was looking to buy an M15x but then I saw the M17x and really want it. However, I can't quite afford the difference. is it possible to get the configuration in my cart for XXXX dollars?"
for me, it was a $2800 config that I asked to get for $2200.
They bumped it down to $2300ish and gave me an extra year's warranty.
Most reps will say...
"let me check our current specials."
Followed by a wait of like 10 minutes of "thank you for being patient." "i'm still checking."
After this I realized I qualified for EPP discount for AAA which gives you a whole new set of Reps in the EPP department who ultimately could give me the best deal. -
Ok I will keep this simple and maybe someone with some haggle experience can tell me if this is even in the realm of possibility. I want to buy a M17x and qualify for a EPP discount through AAA (10% I think it is) I also noticed it is cheaper to upgrade video/processor/hard drive etc as opposed to Dell home when you are shopping the EPP site.
So since Dell home is offering the free upgrade to the Dual 5870 I was wondering if I can convince them to let me configure mine through the EPP site and add the free 5870 x 2 into the configuration. Also has anyone had any luck getting them to throw in a free upgrade to RAID 0 or a i7 upgrade from a i5? -
You can try for between 15% and 20%, if your lucky the max is around 24%
-
Is this guy just for alienware? Is it worth contacting this guy if I'm only interested in XPS16 models? -
what's the best price i can get for a m15x? 1080p,5850,i7-740,4gb,what ever hd. I got 1400 shipped on the epp site. is there a way to get it even lower? if not i think im gonna seal the deal
-
Should I settle for this deal or ask for more?

And the moral of the story is.... Never give up and a little kindness goes a long way with the right rep! Things started moving my way when I told the Dell rep in a live chat "I know you are doing the best you can do and I appreciate it but I know there has to be a way to get this deal done" and then went on to say if this can be done I will purchase this tonight etc...

-
Hey guys, first time poster. Been in the market for a new laptop for a while, and might end up getting an m15x. Just wanted to let you guys know that Alienware has $300 off their m15x making it $1599.00 without EPP or any coupons with the following specs:
Specs:
i7-740QM
1600x900 screen
6GB 1333
500GB 7200rpm
5850 video card FREE UPGRADE
everything else stock
From what I've been reading on this thread, I'm guessing some of you guys can get a EPP rep to add 10% EPP discount to it plus a $50 coupon making it $1390 before tax and free shipping, upgraded to NBD for freeLooks like a great deal to me if it works!
-
You might want to wait one week. Black Friday is just around the corner.
-
Yes, that is true. Does Alienware usually do something big for Black Friday sales?
-
Yes.. read the Black Friday thread.
-
hey guys
im getting an Alienware M11x with I5,4GB ram and 320GB HDD
roughly how much of a discount should i expect? the base price on the website for my core i5 config is 1732 SGD, i called and they gave me 1672 SGD
How much should i haggle for? -
You can try for around 15% off, if your lucky 20%, It's a M11X so the discount my not be as high is if you where buying a M15x or M17X
-
damn. i live in Singapore so Alienware isnt exactly popular. i am pretty sure they dont have the EPP prog here or DPA so how do i press them?
-
I would just try the things posted on the first page of this thread, remember it's all about makeing their sales numbers.
-
ok this is weird. they told me that í can return within 14 days but they'll charge a fee of $60 for return without replacement????
DPA and EPP are inapplicable to alienware thats what they say.
no accessories and anything and its $1599 down from $1732....
not much difference.... -
Its going to be tough haggling with them if they are not able to drop the price in the first place. -
aww man. So i should call Dell US and buy one from the US with intl wty?
Tried my luck with a few today and tried nearly every trick in the book
Lowest price i got was $1599 down from $1732
for the Core I5,4GB ram,320GB
There was this one who quoted me ~$1670 and told me that their system offers a max of $70 cash off for this model and doesnt let him discount it anymore.
Wonder how the other sales rep got a price of $1599 then
The Worst bit was that Dell's return policy is 14 withins they will get someone to pick it up from you but you have to pay $60??? -
hey guys,
i spent nearly an hour on the phone with an US sales rep.
Sent in my pricethanks for the help guys
-
Posted this in Black Friday thread.

How did I do? -
Looks like a great deal
-
Great thread but i have one question. Has anyone had any luck with the dell live chat thing, because I would much rather use this than talk over the phone.
-
Dell Chat is how I got my great deal, I did have discount codes at the time.
-
I used EPP though, they have different reps. Non-EPP reps didn't want to do anything for me.
Seemed pretty good. -
Hey guys!
So I read through about 20 pages and have a question:
I'm looking to buy an m15x base modelp with 1080 for $1,299 and have the 10% epp discount. Also the state I am in does not charge taxes. Can I expect a 20% discount like you guys said or is that too much to ask for since the overall price of the system is too low? 20% discount would equal to $1,040.
Also, if anyone has any dell sales reps to recommend or any coupons if you're feeling especially generous, feel free to pm me!
Thanks for taking the time to answer (hopefully someone does lol). -
I think you have a good shot at 20% if you have epp. Its the holidays, tell your rep it's for your kid, "it's his first computer", lol.
-
hey guys
I had phone call from dell..

He allowed me to change the hard drive to the hybrid one even though its not an option on that model, and this guy gave me 6 % military discount where as vivja ( the sales rep you recommended here ) said he wouldnt
so £972 for all this including the m11x netbook carry case... Good deal do you think ? He said its a one time offer and i had to make my mind up there and then, but i said no because i dont like being pressurised into a buy.. Im sure if i said i will 100 % buy it if they gave me the same offer, im sure they will give it to me again
do you think i should wait for possible updates and maybe cheaper prices in january ?
Just made the same configuration on there site and it came to £1,268.99
so that is £296.99 saving..... But do you think thats anything amazing ? because there's sure to be offers in the January sales
Thanks for any advise
Btw i have epp ( military discount ) how much discount did you guys generally get ? -
EPP for militay is 10% and what you have is a pretty significant savings. I would take it if it's what you want. As far as updates in the near future, updates are always in the nea future. So it's best to get what you want when you want it. I spent 6+ months waiting for updates before I finally got what I wanted. But I don't think that your going to be able to get more money off for what you have. Your already at over 20%. I'd be inclined to take it
but ultimately your choice.
-
Well, don't know if something's changed recently but I just went through two sales agents and they won't budge an inch, and that's even with mitigating circumstances.
Here's the whole story.
I ordered an M11x about 10 days ago. It's still in "boxing' stage while 3 others I know already have theirs that ordered on the same day. I've called support and been given the run around. I even had one lie to me and tell me it had been shipped (it hasn't).
Anyways, I've decided that with the M11x eventually coming, I might as well replace my M15X with a desktop (If anyone's interested - 1 year old M15x, Core i7 740, 500 gig drive, 1gig geforce 260, original packaging etc etc - $1000 for people here). So, I found a deal they have on the aurora desktop - upgraded graphics cards, plus 150 off - making about 300 off in total.
Called them up and tried to get it discounted more given the run around I've had on the M11x. Nothing. Nada. After 20 minutes chatting they said they can't discount it since it's already deeply discounted.
So, I specced an Aurora from scratch, and tried again. I explained the whole story, and that now we're looking at a computer with no discounts pre-applied, what can they do? They increased the size of the hard disk from 1TB to 1.5TB and gave me a total of $50 off!! I said I really would be happier keeping the smaller hard disk and getting the price down. She stressed "its a super deal though and a manager's 1 day special". I insisted she go and check. She came back with a flat refusal to budge. She even said that they don't actually have any power to discount Alienware machines (which we all know is bull).
So, just letting you know (and like I said, if anyone wants an immaculate M15x nice and cheap, drop me a pm). -
froogle, just keep trying, try the chat, if you have a EPP program at work that helps.
-
Boy am I glad I dropped on this thread!
Thanks for the advice! It took me 5 different reps until I got one that would help me out, and with the advice posted on this thread I was able to get a great deal on an Alienware m17x after tying in the already promotional discount (free card upgrade to Crossfire, $375 value)/$100 off coupon together.
I wasn't able to tie in other tricky discounts like other users have, like tying an EPP discount to another EPP discount, since I did it over the phone, but still got a good deal. Original price was $3,192.00, and with the upgrade promotion/coupon/EPP/additional price cuts I got it to $2,172.57 (before tax) with free shipping (tried getting overnight but at this point I strung my rep to breaking point; also tried to get a backpack or mouse but he said they don't do that anymore?).
-As mentioned in the original post, the reps LOVE it if they see you have other items in your cart for future purchases.
-If you get a stubborn rep, really, keep trying. Some of the reps I talked to suck at trying to make a deal. They didn't even make a counter-offer; just stood their ground. If that happens, hang up and try again.
-The rep doesn't want to lose a sale that they've been spending a lot of time on. Keep up the conversation. Whenever I mentioned I need to think about it and send the quote to my email, my rep went back to get more discounts for me until we finally met my original goal.
Alright! My first good laptop! -
Dang! I didn't know you could do all that through the phone or by chatting! I will make sure I do that next time purchase a laptop.
-
-
Hi, long time lurker of this forum, and I just registered to get some advice. I was chatting with a sales representative, and I haggled to get a final price for a M15x of $1,786.26 with a bigger EPP discount. However, I do not believe that this is the lowest they will go. With that said, I intend to call/chat with another representative. My question is, when I call back, will they reference to this quote that I was given and say that is the final quote? Should I use a different email address, or is there a better way to go about this? Thanks for your guys' help.
Here are the specifics:
-
I would say this is what you have, and show them the quote, but that it is just outside your budget (Xmas around the corner and all) and say it's a gift. Ask if they can beat it. If not, keep trying.
-
I live in the UK and was thinking of buying my 3RD laptop this would be the first Alienware M17X for me but i was going to lower my carbon footprint by buying Refurbished ?
As of the very few many i was going for the Q9000 GTX 260M SLI one it looks great and is going down in numbers fast i wanted it as What alienware was about back then also i like buying used items.
+ On the second fact here the UK alienware store is to pricey compared to the US one.
Just wanted some info.
Great offers and great thread mate thanks. -
-
That would cost in the UK about £2200 over 3 thousand dollars.
This is why Alienware have terrible impact on the British they don't like them.
Unless your a nutter and actually buy new from alienware then i say GL hehe.
I'M getting an Q9000 Quad core version with 2X GTX 260M SLI Configuration.
But i also see the I7 version and was totally stuck on choice the I7 version comes with a single GTX 260M. -
The whole thing I hate about this is the fact that you *have* to haggle. Shouldn't it be one price for all? I guess that's why I was never very good with the ladies at the bar.
-
Can you haggle in Dell Outlet? I plan to buy the m11x R2 for $799 with 15% off coupon
-
You can always try. Lets us know how it goes.
-
is it okay to post up contact info for a sells rep.
but if anyone needs a good sells rep in the US, just gave me a pm. I found a super awesome one. -
You should not post any sells reps information, you can PM it to anyone.
