Just did my purchase.
Got myself an M17x, all stock except the 6990m card. Did the 25% off discount + got the rep to apply the $50 off coupon too = $1381 grand total (including tax/shipping). Pretty stoked.

You could, but they could also just tell you to get lost. You want to be courteous with your rep. Everything they want to do for you has to go through their management, and that isn't always easy. They can't just give you 25% because you want it. There needs to be a reason to justify it. Your rep can help find those reasons. Yes, they want the commission, but they will be more likely to jump through extra hoops for you if you are friendly and kind to them.
-
I've got an excellent rep that helped me out alot. She got me the 25% off on an area 51 desktop. Pm me for her contact info if you want.
-
I think it may be worth pointing out that according to my rep, the commission these reps receive isn't based on dollar amount, but rather amount of sales. So the dollar value and amount of discounts you ultimately receive have no affect on their commission.
-
seriously?
where?
i am looking to get one can you give me the info? -
so does this 25% discount only work for the M17x and M18x laptops? The reason I ask is because I am looking at getting the M14x because I will be transporting the laptop a fair amount and don't want to break my back with a 17+" laptop
and I have to say this is a great thread, I had no idea about these types of savings until I read this, thank you very much for getting this started up -
From my last conversation with my rep it appeared that this deal could be used on ANY Dell laptop. I asked him if I could use it on a Precision 6600 or the XPS 15z, he went and asked, and came back with a yes.
Just call the number and ask for yourself...they won't bite
Dell EPP # (800) 695-8133 -
I'm curious, I didn't really do anything mentioned here for discounts off my system(I got a $220 discount for going with 8GB Ram and Bluray combo and 20% off my graphics card upgrade, + free ground shipping) but nothing else really. paying 2200 for the M17X set up I ordered.
I am curious about the partial refund/coupon thing mentioned on the first page. Do they still do that?
From the website, the 15% restocking fee seems like it would be enough to deter someone from returning the laptop. Anybody have recent experience with this? I don't want to get in there and say "I want to return this system I just got, it's not suiting my needs" and them go "alright, just send it back expect the refund in your account within the next 7-10 business days minus the 15% restocking fee, have a nice day" and me basically saying "uh . . .nevermind"
If they call my bluff I am screwed. -
Carbo really? Did she think you were trying to get a different computer than the one you actually wanted?
And did anyone else use her and have this issue? The reason I ask is because I was thinking about calling her since people recommended her but I might just take my chances on a gamble if this previous post is true -
And how long does Alienware take to ship? 3 weeks, 1 month, 2 months?
-
Not a month, maybe 2 weeks, 3.
-
Please let me know the number and how to ask for the 25% discount
Thank you very much! My email is [email protected] -
Yes, really. I don't think there was any confusion as to what I wanted since I directed her to the configuration I had in my cart. But she said it was already discounted and when she gave me her price it was $25 more than mine. Odd, especially from what I am reading here.
But even more odd. . .why was my post here stating this deleted? -
that sucks carbo, did you try just calling the standard EPP number and getting a different rep?
I think I will just see if I can get a normal rep then if she wasn't being very helpful -
I'll call again. I'm not going to give up so easily.
By the way, she wasn't rude. She just said the deal in my cart was already the best I could expect. -
yea i wasn't thinking she was going to be rude but if she isn't going to help out with deals and just give you what is in the cart, i think it would be better to hunt elsewhere lol
-
I never once had any rep ask for what was in my cart. When you call in, you just go through the quick EPP verification, then you tell them what you want over the phone, itemized. The fact that I was getting 15% + $50 off beforehand didn't play into it at all. They gave me the 25% off and after I pushed a little, they gave me the next business day shipping. Thats it.
If I were someone wanting to get this deal before it expired, I wouldn't mess around, and I'd call the direct EPP number now. This isn't a deal you see often, and it's refreshing that it is so easy to get (no haggling necessary).
One more time, here is the EPP number associated with this deal:
(800) 695-8133
I wouldn't waste your time trying to get in touch with specific reps. Any of them answering this line can help you. Talk with any of the reps there and give them the discount code "Hot Summer Savings” (apparently you need the Capitalization to be correct too) and let them verify that you get the 25% off. That is it. -
yea i agree this is nothing to mess around with cause we are talking about at least $500 savings, especially as a broke college student lol
I am going to call them today and hopefully I can still get this discount as a student. I am not currently employed so I do not have the luxury of having an EPP number to just "plug in" and get the automatic discount. Maybe with a little begging/convincing I will be able to get the discount lol
EDIT: And I built the same laptop on the dell student website and the regular website and I managed to save a WHOPPING $42.74 lol Glad to see that dell is giving a major break to students as well lol -
sucks how i cant do this, because i am a canadian
-
well i called dell and apparently this discount does not work for students which is a total bummer because I really could have used that extra money but oh well don't have much of a choice lol
-
I wouldn't give up just like that, a 25% discount isn't something to just toss aside after one failed attempt. I'm sure if you kept going at it you would find a rep willing to cut you the deal.
-
she said that she isn't able too because the phone calls are audited and they would cancel the order anyways, i was on the phone with her for over an hour getting every deal possible lol
the only way i can get the 25% discount is if I have an EPP number which I do not have -

I mentioned the Hot Summer Savings 25% discount and that I was military and instantly got the discount. First computer I have ordered through Dell. With a little sweet talk I got her to add next day air at no charge
-
Wow look at you! Bluray, the 750GB, 8GB, and the 2920XM for only $3k! I wish I could get that good of a deal
Good stuff.
-
It must be me.
Spoke with a second rep today and had him configure the exact model I was looking for, the same one I have sitting in my cart. Nice guy, spent about 30 minutes on the phone with me. But his price was $433 over the exact model I already have in my cart. Even with the 25% Hot Summer Savings discount I have him beat. But he hasn't heard of this discount anyway.
What the hell??
-
This happened to me too. I had him configure the SAME thing sitting in my cart and he had a higher price. I was like that doesn't sound right.
So I saved my cart and put it in my wishlist. He brought up the info on his end and adjusted the price. He never told me what it was.
Regarding the discount, I didn't directly mention it to my rep. He gave me a quote, so I asked him if there were any deals he could get me. Nice guy, talked to me about college and stuff. So he said he'd ask his supervisor. He came back with another quote that still was too pricey. So I asked,"Don't you have some kind of summer savings thing? Like hot summer savings discounts?" He said he would look further, he mentioned checking his old email or something, and then 5 minutes later said ok here's 25% off.
Try again but discretely mention it after you have your system configured and quoted for a price. Act like you're not going to buy, and inquire about any percent off deals regarding summer savings. If the next rep still doesn't give it to you, directly inquire about it one more time upfront.
EDIT:
You are calling Dell EPP right? -
I just replied to several pm's with my reps info. I have to say this again anyhow, if I give you my reps info you -must be nice- she was very helpful and did everything she could to help me. I dont want to get in touch with her again and here that she's been getting rude phone calls that came from a referral.
-
Yes, definitely calling Dell EPP. Thanks for your advice.
I'll try again today and see what happens. -
THANK YOU ALL!!!
Ordered yesterday..

-
could you please send me your rep's info? [email protected] Thanks a lot.
-
Oh, just shoot me pm's for the rep's info. I'm pretty random on checking this thread and email. So pm's are the best way to get me.
-
Man I cannot find a dell rep that will budge, they all want a company on the list to be mentioned. My friend got the e-mail through Mens Warehouse (yes he actually works there) but aparently MW isn't on the list?? Makes no sense to me. They said maybe a parent company but neither of us can find a parent company. How are you guys getting this??
-
Same here. My co-worker just sealed the deal and I cant get the same discount. Some help would be greatly appreciated.
-
I messaged a bunch of you on how to get the 25% off. I hope it helps.
I think this offer might not work on the XPS 15 laptops because at the moment they already have 25% off by default for all EPP purchases but....it won't hurt to try. -
I got a rep to give me the 25% but he won't let me use the $50 coupon and doesn't add any EPP savings.
Price he gave me was about 1350 for a fully loaded M14x (but a 2630QM and 500GB HDD) -
The 25% off is an EPP discount and unfortunately you cannot add to it additional coupons. -
Think he can tack on an xbox? or give it taxfree? I'm a student going to university.
-
The EPP discount is either an XBOX or 25% off as I understand it, I might be wrong. Reps won't give you tax free but if you get a quote and then use the quote as a bargaining chip with other reps you might be able to knock off another $50 dollars (it would be very difficult, 25% off is a lot of money and usually reps won't budge),
You can always try and good luck -
Should I mention that I have gotten a quote from another REP?
-
Yes, give them the quote number with the lowest price you can get (the one you mentioned before) and ask if they can you give you a better price. It always helps if you are ready to buy. You can then say "if you give me $X off I will buy right now" and see if they budge. You can also look at the first page of this thread, it has lots of useful info.
-
LOL. I'm on the phone with a guy right now and he just said.. "you've been calling for the past couple of days. Can I ask why?" I just told him that I want to get the best deal possible. He's in a pissy mood.
-
What does he think you're looking for? A date??
Anyway, I'm thinking of changing tactics. If they can't lower the price, how about I ask them to toss in some accessories that I was planning on buying elsewhere? A wireless mouse, a carry case, etc. -
He'll sue him for harrassment if he keeps calling and refusing to make a transaction.
-
This 25% off is the best deal I've seen and I've been watching it for awhile. Once they offered 30% but that was US Military only. I would recommend that if you want an Alienware you take advantage of the 25% while you can. The only recent deal better than this was the $250 off outlet Alienwares, and that deal only lasted a few hours it sold so fast.
Don't sweat not getting the $50 extra off, be happy with 25%, people have done a whole lot worse.
Letting him/her know you got a quote from another rep shows you have no loyalty (if you did why didn't you go back to that rep). It lets them know you will not come back to them either, this can work for you since they'll want to close the deal right then (since they know you'll never come back), but it also works against you because you've already shown evidence of flakiness, if they think you are not a buyer, then you are just wasting their time. Once Dell labels your account as a problem, you will not be able to do better and things could get worse. This is corporate America, they track everything. -
Seriously? Is that all they give for MPP/EPP? Student discount is a measly 2%, as is the Farmers discount and AAA discount. Is there any program out there other than AAFES that can get you more than 2% of the price? Kinda blows that they take a whopping total of 25$ of the price for a EPP/MPP...........
-
Talk to another rep.
-
I've tried 5 different ones. None of them budge! Or when they "fix" me a price, I go back to specs, and they downgraded one of my components!
-
Damn 5% is standerd if you order on the site.
You should at least get 10%
Maybe they got out of bed the wrong way. -
yeah def I got 10% on the site............. gonna give this another try on monday.
