Thanks that did the trick for me, seems to only work on certain system configurations though, but glad to see that you can stack it with the $100 coupon with the additional 2% EPP discount and the $30 off EPP discount. Its time to pick out a laptop![]()
-
the 25% coupon only works on the almost maxed out configuration of the M18X which is pretty scandalous of Dell....
-
What about for the M11x, from which configuration does it work ?
-
It works from the starting price of $1028.02 and up.
-
What's the config?
-
dell.com/saveology
There's only 2 M18X configs, the basic one and the nearly maxed out one of which you can only use the 25% coupon on the maxed out config, it use to work fine on any config, I don't know if this is an error or if Dell is just being greedy. -
Anyone here who hasn't find what he is looking for and can give his coupon to another (me) ?
-
^^ Id like to second that even though I know its a long shot.
-
^^ I'll add a third to this
I'm ordering from canada through myus, and though I'm already saving a few bucks 25% would be awesome as the m18x I'm building is going up fast.
I was hoping for a bit more off for cyber monday, I'm a little disappointed. -
I haggled a $1800 dollar M17x config to 1500.. Not good enough by my standards but it was simple enough. My personal tips for people trying to make the best of this fail Cyber Monday.
- Bring up the fact that you were disappointed by the sales today.
- Tell them you have a budget of ____. Lol don't expect them to meet that budget, but they will try to get close.
- Ask if you can combine the $50 and $100 coupons. They will say no of course, but most likely give you that $50 off.
- Just for being a student gives you a few % off.
- Have your item saved in your cart.
I know all of this is probably already known but yeah.. Try to squeeze them pennies mayn. -
i had a 25% coupon and saved off the m14x config w/ the orion bag.. now i check back and find that they took my coupon off. it doesn't even work anymore on that config or other m14 configs i tried.. anyone else experiencing this problem?
-
I want to buy another m17x R3 for someone. I got these two quotes. One for the AMD 6990 and the other for the Nvidia GTX 580. Is one quote better than the other or just a matter of opinion? Do these quotes seem in line with what others are paying? I did get a 3 yr advanced warranty so that made it a lot more. I love the M17x I have now.

Hi all, first post but long time lurker on these forums. Let me start off by saying this is probably the best thread in regards to investing the time it took to read through all 267 pages and the ROI you can get back. There are some great tips and advice in here.
So I've been in the market for an M17xR3 and have been trying tirelessly to pull one from the outlet when they show up, but the resellers and their scripts are just too fast. So i decided to look at new sytems...
I configured the M17x i wanted through the EPP site and saved it to my cart. Next I opened a Dell Preferred Account. Then I proceeded to call Dell. Now from all that I read, I remember reading something about deal with US agents only. Of course, my guy is from India. So i thought well this is a bust but what the hell, i'm in the car driving home let's see what happens.
To make a long story short, the guy kept saying this is an Alienware, top of the line, no discounts ever blah blah blah. I'm like yeah I know, but our country is in a recession right now and we just can't fathom paying big $$ until it's over.
So he goes and talks to his supervisor and his supervisors supervisor... or in reality proceeds to put me on hold for 2-3 minutes and then comes back. In the end, I was ready to hang up and trying to get off the phone, thats when he realized he was about to lose a sale. He asked what it would take to get me to pull the trigger. I told him I want the final price under $2200, I want an Alienware backpack thrown in for free and that I wanted it shipped overnight (all very good advice I picked up from this thread). He proceeded to lol and said that would never happen. I told him this was his last chance to take my demands to his boss and if he wanted to make a sale he would take it, otherwise we part ways, no harm done. He came back and acted totally shocked that it was approved and we sealed the deal.
This is what I got....

So I wanted to make sure I said thanks to all on here as well as share my experience with those trying to wheel and deal with Dell. I had no idea this was like buying a car and there was room to haggle.
Thanks again to all for the input and good luck to those still in the hunt! -
Amazing deal ya made there man.
I always laugh when I see everyone's different style of haggling.
Good luck on the next part, and enjoy your new M17 bro. -
This thread is great, wish I had discovered it ages ago. Been looking to buy a m18x for the last few months now.
This thread encouraged me to call up today when i got home from work to try to haggle down one. Maybe I'm just awful at haggling, but after 6 reps, I still got absolutely no where.
The majority of the reps sat there saying "well I've already saved you like -insert random number- on the 20% off video upgrades and the killer wireless card discounts I gave you". Basically, the promotions on the site that are sitting there in front of you that I already applied to my cart before even calling...The other's persistantly insisted I downgrade my system to meet my budget.
Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow.
-
Thats awesome possessed73.
Glad to see people are still getting something out of this thread.
If you have any tips that are not in the original post, please PM them to me and I will get the original post updated, and give credit where credit is due.
@possessed73, sinc eyou managed to read the entire thread, your input would be very valuable as well. Thanks everyone,
Glad to see people are still reading this and getting some great deals. -
Anyone think there's a possibility Alienware may have a sale day with the ongoing 12 days of deal promotions going on? 12 Days of Dell -12/1- 12/12 Laptops, Desktops, TVs and Monitors | Dell
Or should I not hold my breath? -
Great work possessed73! What was your original non-discounted price? I was just wondering the % off.
-
I've never seen Alienware in these wide spread posted sales. Best case I've seen seems to be either a company promo (Farmers, Geico, Law firm, etc...) or some rep wanting a ton of sales and hooks a lot of people up.
-
I figured as much. Can't decide if I should just go ahead and pull the trigger or if I should wait.
-
Does anyone know how dell reps know how many quotes I have received etc? They going by phone number? They basically seem to have a huge log of how many haggle attempts I've made which is hindering me at this point lol.
Also is it true you don't get the DPA discount if your DPA is not freshly made with them?
This is the best quote I've got so as of just now.

Ah, I believe it was around $2600-$2700 with the EPP discount for the machine. So about a $500 - $600 savings not counting the AW Backpack and NBD shipping.
Some quick advice to those having trouble with talking the reps down... make sure you have a DPA with an available balance, if not, get one before calling.
That way the rep knows you are there to buy if your reasonable demands are met.
-
Can someone pm me a good rep ? Thank you very much
-
You need 10 quality posts to have access to PM priviliges. Then the database will refresh overnight I believe.
-
Good evening everyone. First post here. This has been a very helpful thread. Well, I am a long time Mac user and have a Dell also. Dell tech was at my house today fixing my Inspiron. Great warranty btw. But looking at buying an M18x. I have EPP, as well as being a vet and having that savology 25% code. I also know something about PSS, professional selling skills. This is the quote I put together online with my coupon. I however am wondering if I should hold off on throwing the coupon out to the rep, to see if he can do anything first, then throw that on. Backpack, extra warranty, NBD etc. Or should I just be thankful for a 25%. But the coupon is not due to the hookup from the rep. I have a DPA also.

Hi, Im looking at buying an m18x in canada and was wondering if you guys think buying a couple laptops would give for a much better deal. I was thinking buying a few to get the price down and then just selling they others locally for whatever i paid that way i can get myself a relatively cheap m18x. Sound like it would work/good idea?
-
Wow $4000 worth configuration.... awesome, but do you really need that high? just a thought. Maybe you can consider Aurora.
-
I was thinking that too. But i have seen so many posts here on the board to max out on the cpu and gpu and to do everything else later on. Maybe I will go down to the base cpu. Thank you.
-
This is pretty awesome. It's actually slightly less money than from the Dell website too. Does anyone know anything else? I just noticed this tonight.
and they offer thermal paste too?!? OMG you can get a spare battery there even.
Alienware Custom Built Gaming Laptops & Notebooks
This would be the place to buy an M14x I can tell you that much right now. Anyone know if this is permanent or just an experiment? -
Hmmmm but if you can haggle with sales rep then I m quite certain that the price would be lower ^_^
-
Dude have you check this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m14x/577511-m14x-pre-order-configuration-questions-ask-here.html
maybe that can help you ^_^ -
I would love to buy from an Alienware reseller if they could offer comparable pricing to some of the large discounts you can get through haggling. Assuming they are easier to deal with in regards to initial problems, pricing, returns, etc...once you run into a Dell order snag, it's a total pain to deal with...(Just ran into one on a monitor order).
Strange how Wireless HD can't be configured on that website and pricing is less and more depending on item... -
This is so awsome, I just plan to get a new notebook and m17xR3 will be a great deal thanks to this thread !
-
Ok, i pulled the trigger on an M18x. Ended up having the 2.4 ghz processor and dual 580s, 8 g of ram, and the 750 g hard drive, blu ray, 5% gift card, 3 year advanced warranty, and backpack. Came to 2900 and change. Only thing I could get was the 25% off, which i attribute to this thread for the heads up, 2 day shipping and the 3% DPA. Thank you for the wealth of information and help here.
-
is that including tax?
-
$2969.26 total shipped. That is including tax. Tried to get a free backpack or mouse, but he tried talking to his manager and could not budge. Nice guy. But I really was happy with the 28%.

Hello all!
Thanks for the great thread and advice.
I tried for the first time to haggle but wasn't happy with my results. I tried two different sale reps. One being from NA, the other from India. I didn't find the NA rep offer worthy to even post. The Rep from India wasn't much better. Basically off of the base model he gave my the upgrade to 1080p for $50.

I may just wait until after Christmas. I think the deals may be better with more room to move on these prices. -
where did you get the 25% coupon? Can you pm me if you still keep one . Thx bro
-
and if anyone has ANY coupons at all for the m11x please pm me. I don't think there are anymore, but I thought I would ask.
-
can someone tell me or pm me good sales rep that could give great amount of discount? that would be the very kind of you... thanks in advance
-
I'm not understanding where you guys are getting the 25/28% off from.
-
This is the thread for the expried 25%. 3% was from using Dell Preferred Account.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/not...claim-coupon-monday-expires-january-31-a.html -
Did you use the 25% off saveology coupon or just haggle with the sale rep to get the discount? I was thinking about if there was another way to get the 25%off because the savaology coupon is no longer available for purchase .

I spent a while trying to haggle but only got like $150 or something off w/o the coupon. Tried to get anything before i threw the coupon out there. Said the 25% coupon was as best as it was going to get than had to ask for epp. He tried stacking other discounts he had but would not work with the coupon he said. He said that when he tried adding other discounts it would take off the 25% saveology. So at the end of the day was just epp and saveology. And it shipped today. So i guess a week in production phase.

I haggled for a for a 3 day span with 3 different reps. The best I could do was about $150 from builds ranging from $1750-$2100.
I just ended up getting a Asus G74sx with similar specs to my lowest AW build. I paid $1200 for the G74sx and called it a day. If I could have scored the 25% I would have bought the AW but I just couldn't swallow the cost of one without the savings. The Asus will cover my needs and I saved $500.
Good luck all and thanks for the tips! -
currently selling my laptop on ebay, I have to wait for paypal to clear they money and transfer it to my bank. Do you think that I could get the haggling over with, and then get like a ref. number or somthing, that way when I am ready to buy I can get it done really quickly... and painlessly.

I just bought an alienware m11x from the Dell outlet this week, and now I see that they posted coupons for 100$ off just hours after I completed my order (3am, coupons probably 6-7a.m.).
Would I be able to haggle with a rep to get some of that discount credited back to me, or should I return the laptop, and purchase another system with the coupon? I just received the m11x today, and it's been out of the plastic for about 4 hours. -
Can someone please send me a US rep ext number. Looking to buy an M18x and don't want to deal with someone that barely speaks english

1: Is there sales tax like when ordering through Alienware / Dell? I was about to order from Dell when I saw the sales tax and wasn't willing to pay another 100+++ for an already expensive machine.
2: is the power notebooks m17x the r3? like the latest edition? There is no difference between the Dell m17x-R3 and the powernotebooks one is what I am asking.
Thank you all for reading and input in advance, typing this in a hurry trying to order very soon
